Klasse Q&A?!

Alright I have been using Zaino for awhile and have been really happy with it but I'm gonna take the plunge and try Klasse topped with P21S. But I have a few questions.

1) Will the AIO get rid of the old Zaino?

2)With AIO or the the Glaze/Sealant can or should these be applied with foam or a MF applicator?

3)What do you guys reccomend as a quick detail spray, David in his perfect shine reccomends and acrylic spritz for daily drivers and a carnuba for garage queens, I'd like tokeep the depth and wetness of the carnuba for a QD spray so what do you all use ?

4)Any tips or tricks to this system as far as application or how many coats and wait times?

5) Do you think I will be more impressed with this than Zaino, I have a true blue mustang and like Zaino but it doesn't have that oomph like when I see a car at a auto show!

6)When applying more Klasse glaze coats can you do this over the P21S any complications here?

Also any substitutions or product recomendations are appreciated!

Thanks for any help!

:) :)

Yes it should

I have used a foam but never a MF. Would like to try a MF app sometime with it.

For me I have used. Megs FI, EOWS, and Clearkote QS

4)Any tips or tricks to this system as far as application or how many coats and wait times?

I usually do 3 x SG then top with a carnuaba (S100). I would wait 24 hrs between SG coats.

I love Klasse. I think its very durable, easy to use, and gives a great shine.

6)When applying more Klasse glaze coats can you do this over the P21S any complications here?

If you put on P21S over the SG you will have to remove the carnuaba if you are going to add more coats of SG. AIO should remove it.

Hope it helps...

Yes it should.

I think you will be more impressed just because you are topping with p21s. you might wanna try topping the zaino with some type of carnuba and see how you like that. IMO there is very little difference in klasse and zaino looks wise.

1) yes

2) Foam is fine if you dont have mf applicators.

3) As for the QD spray, I have used Megs FI and Sonus. I gove the edge to Sonus *slightly*, just seems to be a little more compatible with the Klasse.

4) For Klasse application, look up BillNorth ( one word ) in the search function for the WOWO ( wipe on, wipe off ) method. Works a treat!

5) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Im afraid you'll just have to try it and see as what looks better is *very* subjective. If you want that real show car "oomph", what is your polishing routine? That is the base thats sets it all up for a "perfect finish".

6) Bear in mind, once you run over it with AIO, it will remove the lot so you'll be back at square one ( ie need to reapply all the layers of SG ). I'd recommend just adding more PS21 - and as a side note, Id get S100 - same stuff, but cheaper.

What is the difference between S100 and P21S? Alos if I'm topping with a carnuba will Meguiars FI be a better choice than Sonus? Thanks for the help so far

Only difference between the two waxes is price. Don't be TOO quick to top your SG. Build up plenty of layers first and see if you think it NEEDS topping.

Nah, the FI is best if you're NOT topping with carnauba, *as is* the Sonus (the Sonus leaves some SG-like stuff, the FI doesn't). FI will soften your SG (just a little) because of its alcohol content, so don't overdo it. *I* sorta like using BF's QD over SG, myself.

SG maxes out after about 3 applications. SONUS is great for clearing up the streakies that you sometimes get with SG, particularly when you don't get to the second WO soon enough.

For SG application, I wet a MF towel, the wring it out nearly dry, folded into about 1/6ths. Just about a quarter sized dab of SG is all you will need to do 1/2 your hood, or each subsequent body panel. Have a clean and dry MF in you other hand, because right after you apply the SG start wiping off the panel. I did a friends truck yesterday and he got a little slow with the wipeoff and there were quite a few streaks but another dry MF ans some SONUS wasted 'em.

Once you top SG with carnuba, the Klasse game is over - it won't stick to wax. BUT you could use UPP for a silky slick finish and that you can top with more SG or SONUS if desired.

1) Yes, it should, but if you're really worried that it won't totally remove your 10000 coats of Z, you can always use a retail pre-wax cleaner to strip it too.

2) I use foam myself.

3) Sonus may be best, but over the years almost any non-carnauba containing QD seems to work just fine.

4) See this post I made way back when, showing my technique (near the bottom). http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14802&highlight=water+klasse+thin Yes, it takes a long time though. :p The next time I use Klasse I'll probably be trying BillNorth's "WOO" method.

5) Try it and see. :) The "look" of products on different paints and colours is highly subjective. Some people like the looks of it, some don't. It does very slightly darken a finish, I have noticed with many layers.

6) Top only when you're sure you're done with layering I think.

HTH

You also might want to consider trying 1Z products. I have just started testing them and I am impressed not only with the results, but the ease of use.

Poorboys is another option, especially if you want more depth to your paint. Also very user friendly and in my own experience, good durability.

AIO will remove the Z. I do two work in's with a microfiber applicator (damp), rinsing out your applicator as it gets soiled. (I prep and clay before AIO if needed).

I lay down at least 3 coats of SG on consecutive days, the first one, I lay down after the 2nd work in of AIO.

I only use water when buffing, I save QD after the waxing's done.

Lastly, don't top until you're satisfied with your Klasse shine or after your 3rd coat, cause you can't go in reverse order. The good thing is that the Klasse will stick around so after you do decide to carnauba you can go back and carnauba again after a wash and not have to reKlasse.

I started being "autopian" by using AIO, topped with Souveran and actually built the S up to 10 layers. I used Pinnacle's Crystal Mist as it has carnuba in it. Awesome shine.

But now I am liking AIO, SG x 3 and UPP, using SONUS as a QD.

Next, who knows.....
