Klasse and Zaino questions

Hello everyone, this is my first post, from a noob autopian. I'm a little confused about what products can be used with AIO and Zaino and how.. but I know that I want to keep my car clean and shiney :)

I've decided that I want to use either Zaino or Klasse because of their durability. I'm going to properly clean and polish the paint before applying either but I have questions on which will help me decide which one to choose.

- I know the AIO does not stain trim and can be used on glass and even wheels I think. How about Zaino?

- I have bottles of Meguiar's #80 and #81 which I bought a while ago for use with NXT wax. I'm not sure if the polish will be useful with AIO because AIO contains cleaners which will remove the polish? If AIO removes the "nourishing oils", is my paint gonna "dry out"?

- Also, can I use #80 and #81 with Zaino? Because I know Zaino also calls their products "Polish."

- can you top Zaino with a carnauba like P21S?

thanks in advance.

don't worry about the paint drying out. You can use AIO under Zaino but isn't neccessary. If you go from a megs polish to Z use a 50% alcohol/50% water combo to remove the oils for a good Zaino bond.

Don't worry about your paint drying out...the whole "oil" BS is a marketing thing. Zaino needs to have an oil-free surface to work with, so don't even bother with 81 or 81. Just go AIO --> Zaino. And yes, Zaino can be topped with a carnauba like P21S if you wish.

zaino doesn't stain trim and can also be used on glass and wheels.

You can also put a wax on top of the zaino if you wish, i believe.

Okay, so if I prepare the paint with MPPC, will I need to do anything else before applying AIO or Zaino?

polish with whatever you'd like, but before you apply the sealant of your choice, do as mentioned above with the 50/50 IPA wipe down.

don't be confused with zaino's terminology. the only polish zaino makes is z-pc. their z2pro, z3, and z5 "polishes" are sealants.

btw, go with zaino if you want durability (and better look imo)...aio itself won't last as long as zaino, it's HGSG that provides the extended durability.

good luck.

AIO + Zaino = still one of the best combos out there, so why not both? Use any polish you want and AIO will put a nice base down for Z2pro. This combo doesn't need to be topped at all, dripping stinking wet all on it's own.

I like to use AIO followed by Klasse High Gloss Sealant followed by P21s Carnauba Wax or Griots Best of Show (but really you can pick your favor carnauba here) to get the glass like look on my finish. This of course assumes you polished properly first (my choices are Griots Machine Polish 3 or 4 depending on the severity needed).

What would be the purpose of using an AIO/Zaino combo? Nothing lasts as long as Zaino, so wouldn't using it in a combo with something else just downgrade the amount of protection you'd get?

thanks for all the tips guys. So is it safe to say that AIO + SG is equally durable as zaino with equal number of coats? Which one would you say is easier to use? so far, I've only been confused by the Zaino process I've read online. Seems there're many more steps than AIO + SG, am I right? I'm looking for something that will require the least amount of time long term wise. I'm a lazy autopian. :)

One last thing, would you apply either of them with a Meg Even Coat Applicator or something else?

i'm a noob, and don't really know much about AIO or SG, but i did clay, 2 layers of Z5 polish and 2 layers of Z2 polish, all mixed with ZFX, with the gloss enhancer between each coat.... and it really was pretty easy. Once you figure out not to use too much, that is.

Does this mean no matter what polish I use, I need to wipe down with 50/50 alcohol/water? Is there any polish that I can use which will not require the 50/50 wipe down? Also, do I need to use a polish after MPPC because it's really a cleaner? Sorry this is really confusing.

I personally wash the car after every polishing, no wipedown necessary. If you don't want to wash, you can use AIO, and ZPC leaves the surface ready for sealant.

When polishing, some polished will require you do a 50-50 wipedown to remove their oils or fillers. #80 for example would need a wipedown, aio, or ZPC before applying Zaino sealants. Merely washing the car after polishing with something like #80 will do nothing to the oils, where the 50-50 solution will allow you to see nothing but you results and a LSP ready surface, with maximum durability and bonding.

one more: Will AIO + SG be nearly as slick as Zaino so that bug splats can be wiped off easily without the use of tar and bug remover? Also, I autocross my car so it will hit the orange traffic cones at speed from time to time. Will AIO + SG provide enough protection from whacking the cones or am I better off with Zaino on the front bumper and lower body parts? :)

EDIT: As good as Zaino is, I'm leaning towards AIO + SG because AIO is really a convenient product that removes oxidation as well as seals. BillNorth's SG method makes it really easy as well (at least in theory for me.)

The 50/50 is a cheap solution, but personally I prefer to just use Dawn (if saving money) or Griots Garage Paint Prep to remove paint. The Griots solution is the easiest and safest bet in my opinion. :waxing:
