Jerez Black M3 Restoration Detail - Intro Thread - Cold NC Day.

First B&A thread after waiting 7 years, finally had a worthwhile restoration and time to show off. 2008 Jerez Black M3 with dealer induced swirls. Thankfully only from the carwash and dealer neglect. Sun kept peaking in & out during the day but the cold didn't stop me from finishing this car before sundown.

Initial D300/M105 cut really cut through 90% of the swirls, although some deeper scratches and swirls remained. Went with D300 + MF Finishing Disc just to see what would happen and got almost to 5% better although the finish was dramatic. Decided to PoliSeal it for the sake of the age of the paint. Still playing with the Meg's MF system, but I love it. All I need now is some 3 inch setups to address deep etching/marring in small areas.

Process & Products:

Wheels - Sonax Wheel Cleaner, Optimum Power Clean, various brushes. Sealed with OptiSeal / Tires – Power Clean & Optibond

Wash – Foam bath with Poorboy’s SSS, Power Clean – Pre Wash.

Clay – Yellow Clay for decontamination.

Polish/Compound – D300 Correction Compound & M105 with Cutting MF Pad, D300 with Finishing MF Pad.

Finish – Poliseal, Optiseal, Optimum Car Wax. Finish Kare 425 Wipedown.

Interior – Optimum Protectant Plus

Recommendations, comments, & tips for improvement welcome!

Hope this post isn't an eyesore in relation to the "Jump the Shark" post.

I only worked on 1 Jerez Black M3 - hated it, spent nearly 70 hours. Never again. :wall

You did an excellent job, the car looks beautiful. Did you get a chance to take the license plate frame off? I normally always polish that area as well.

really, thats my favorite color to work on from BMW...

I took off the license plate, no frame off since I didn't see the need. Jerez Black wasn't to bad for me at all, its not like the flat black BMW that destroys everyone.

Short, just the way I like it! In all reality I finally got a DSLR to use.

Looks real good! Gotta ask - was that the one from Nashville NC?

Negative, completely unrelated.

Thanks all for the compliments everyone. Fun detail.

Does anyone have a solution for waterspots on shadowline trim?
