You are doing yourself and your customer a disservice if you tackle a job you are not confident in.

I agree

If you have to question what you are doing then you had better not be touching a ZR1. Heck you don't even know what color it is. It seems you have your products picked before even seeing the car.

I get to choose between those colors and all the paint is in relatively the same condition, I doing it for free for a dealer

You will be fine. The pads and polish you are using are very safe. If you are nervous then you will be careful and that is a good thing. Everyone has to pop their cherry at some point.

Your system seems fine. be very careful claying the car. That is where you can do the most damage. Use a non aggresive clay and don't beat the heck out of the car because power finish doesn't have much correcting ability.

Other than that, you can't do anymore damage than most dealerships do.

thank you...that is why I am using what I am useing...I have had 2+ years with this polish and SIP Menz...and same amount of time clay baring...I'm just nervous haha

but i figured with the Power Fin. I cant do much damage ehhh

So as the title said I have a red or white or black ZR1 to detail this week. It only has very light swirl marks and some water spots with some surface contaminates...

Here is my exact process, PLEASE tell me if there is anything I'm missing or need to critique.

drape water over the car...No high pressure water

Used the 2 bucket method with a sheepskin glove to wash the car, starting from the roof moving on to the, hood, next, trunk, top part of doors, front bumper, lower doors, rear bumper...then lightly rinse

I will next use a MF towel to wipe it all down, after use a leaf blower to remove any remaining water marks

Next I will clay the whole thing with the same method...IF i need to clay the whole thing, (including windows)

Degrease the wheels

I assume the engine won't need a degrease :)

Give it a full QD spray down, getting in the door jams

next I will use my porter cable with a white or green Lake Country pad, and Power Finish Menz polish, but first I will lightly spray the pad with some QD.

I'm not going to go into polishing mechanics, but after I will wipe it all down and add a layer of wax as well as dress the wheels and and protect the trim

I will move onto the interior which really wont need anything other than some vacuuming and protection

Clean the glass and done...I'm sure I forgot something in this but I want to keep you guys on your toes...what am I missing

I'm kinda nervous this car is the nicest one I've detailed yet

paint prep is the key to a successful detail, so I would suggest claying the whole car even if you "think" it doesnt need it.

i clay my camaro twice a year and its only driven on nice days and garage kept.

I will use my porter cable with a white or green Lake Country pad,

Good luck, it might or might not do the trick, the clear on Vettes is super hard, just did one that was in good condition.

Had to go at the hood and deck with my Rotary, Yellow ccs cutting pad and Megs 105 to get it looking right.

Don't be nervous, the PC should be safe compared to any rotary, tape up any edges and emblems to be safe.

Corvette Clearcoats are tremendously tough. I doubt you will see much, if any correction out of a white pad and power polish.

Orange Pad and SIP or Orange Pad and 105 is what I generally jump to for a vette and then follow up with a finishing polish.
