Hyperdressing question....

Hey guys,

I am going to be using Meguiars Hyper-dressing for the first time this weekend. I will be diluting it 4:1 so I get a nice factory finish but my question is:

What can you/should you spray Hyper-dressing on? I am used to protectants and such where you would maybe only put them on black plastic...but it seems that people put Hyperdressing on everything. Can this go on underhood paint? Belts? Manifolds and Valve covers? Engine block?

I was wondering if you put it on hot things, does it turn colors or yellow? I know its water based so I assume it may be more suitable than some things but if some of you guys with Hyperdressing could chime in, I would have a bit more confidence going to town with this stuff.

Thanks in advance

I just used it for the first time last weekend. This may not be the right answer but I sprayed it on everything. The engine was cold at the time. Came back a half hour later and could see a few spots that I missed so I touched up and it has looked great since. I mixed 2:1. The heat has not seamed to effect it or leave any bad smell.

capt. dan has the right idea but i found the 4:1 ratio a little weak so i stepped it up to 2:1 and im very happy with the results.its enough gloss to make the tires look deep black but dull enough to not have the dashboard blind you when your driving.

Thanks alot for the responses guys. I already use 303 on interior things and Zaino tire stuff on the tires. I will only be using the Hyper-dressing under the hood and I am starting off with the 4:1 because I would rather have it a bit more satin and natural looking. I think I will spray it in most areas and hope for the best. Plus since I am diluting it pretty well and because it is water based, I wont run into too many issues.

2003SCT,

Please post your impressions of the Hyperdressing at that ratio. I just received my order and am looking for feedback on dilution ratios.

Thanks.

I used the Hyperdressing 4:1 and it worked amazingly! I made sure to put it in a sprayer which would allow a very light mist. First, to allow me to apply everywhere evenly and secondly, so there wouldnt be any splatters(as you can get with a direct pattern type of sprayer).

I could see going to 3:1 but I love the natural luster after its done with the 4:1.

Here is a few before and afters...a 100K mile Chrysler Concorde and a newer E55 AMG:

I haven't had the chance to use Hyper Dressing but it deffinately sounds like a great product. Great results when diluted meaning you can really stretch a gallon, haven't heard any ill affects about it harming plastics/rubbers un the hood or even trim, and the price isn't bad either.

Yeah, I ended up getting a one gallon jug for like $40 shipped. Diluting it 4:1 makes 4 gallons for $40. I think that is pretty darned reasonable for something that works as well as it does.

Can anyone suggest an alternate to hyper dressing that you can dilute to a matte for the engine bay? Here in Canada they don't sell it.

You can't have it shipped to Canada?

From meguiar's Canada:

The products are non compliant to sell in Canada and we don't stock them.

If you go across the border and buy them in the States be forewarned that

customs may confiscate the products due to non compliance with Canadian CCCR

regulations.

So sad. I'm not sure what the reason is.

Well, to be honest it is sad but the reasoning is probable good for many reasons and I'm sure you can think of those yourself. Not saying you should be forced to buy something else is good but maybe if you search around I'm sure people in Canada have Meguiars Pro. Line products sitting in their house therefore would lead me to believe you can buy them somewhere or have them shipped to you some how. I don't know for sure man but keep searching and maybe you could come up with something.

Hyperdressing is nice. I like 3:1 for under the hood.

I spray it on everything, let it sit (close the hood and start the engine, I think the heat kind of evaporates the dressing, leaving it a little glossy. Here is a pic of a motor I did
