Hurricane Matthew Check In Thread

As Hurricane Matthew move up the FL coast and onto GA and SC, how about those forum members in Matthew`s path start checking in, let the rest of know how you`re doing, maybe share photos of the impact to your area, but most importantly let us know you`re ok.

Just saw the first death has been reported in Port St Lucie, ie the town directly above Stuart, FL - home of Autopia and Autogeek. Sad news.

From the IR picture I saw, a lot of power is out north of Miami to around Daytona Beach.

I`ve been through 4 hurricanes in my lifetime and each one has been very different from the other. Stay safe and God bless.

Just drove home (I was only 15 minutes away) and there was a lot of road debris, fences and such down but I didn`t see any closed roads besides the causeways to get to the beach. Power came on as well and must not have been out long, all the food in the fridge and freezer were fine.

Some pictures while driving. Not very good pictures, though.

Lots of fences down like this.

What I believe is an abandoned boat that crashed into shore.

Line of cars waiting to get to the barrier islands. Probably at least 50 cars.

Blocked off causeways to barrier islands.

And our current wind condition.

Any flooding? I`ve read the storm surges will be bad.

None at all here, and I haven`t seen any on the news for the barrier islands. The river is a few feet higher than normal, but that`s all there is water wise thankfully.

I`ve been to AG, & Port Saint Lucie is like right there.

Get out of there people....

We got lucky in Stuart FL. The storm moved to the north in the final hours so most of it missed us. We only lost power for a few hours and the only thing I had to deal with was lots of debris on the roads and a lot of broken traffic signals. Immediately after the storm I was outside polishing my windshield. I must have gained +100 crazy points with my neighbors.

We managed the hurricane without any major issues. Power is still out for many of us in our area due to damage to main transmission lines. Sadly, the flooding is doing much more damage. I woke up the following Monday to a front yard of water. I managed to get my work truck, personal truck to dry land. Then went next door to my Mom and saw my grandfather`s new Impala that I spent around 14 hours correcting and using Viking Coat on, sitting in 2 feet of water. He was so proud of how his car looked, really sucked to see his face when I had to break the news to him. Got my grandmother`s car out safely. Now my grandparents have around 18" of water inside their house. My garage has detailing products and gear floating around also. Haven`t even had time to wash the crap off of my personal truck yet...At least I managed to get everyone out safely and have them setup out of harm`s way. Hope our other fellow Autopians fared much better.
