How does Dri Wash'n Guard compare to ONR/QEW/DP 4in1?

I used a similar product in the early 90s. Spray on wipe off. It added a bit more protection than the ONR alone (IIRC). Any experiences?

Works okay but it takes longer and cost per use is a lot higher. I actually met a girl several years ago who was detailing on the side and using Dri-Wash. She wasn't all that busy so I hired her for the 6 weeks leading up to Christmas. After using QEW twice and getting the hang of it, she didn't go back to Dri-Wash.

I agree. I used for a few years in the early 90 and still have family members in the business (why no clue). There new ION blue stuff is not cheap, neither was the org formula. Problem is they state only need 4 oz to do a car; not gonna happen.

Cost is WAY up there, durability is not that great (along with protection) and shine is ok. I would take ONR over it any day.

:D it doesn't

This stuff is pushed by all those salesmen, no matter what is wrong with your paint, DWG will fix it

And DWG can stain 'some' types of black trim and it sometimes leaves a chalky white powder behind on certain textured plastics. The company claims it won't stain trim or leave behind anything, but I know it does from my own personal experiences. I do like DWG and think its a decent product, but there are plenty of good choices out there.

A new mobile business started in Hungary called Ecowash. It is obviously a franchise and they clean cars while they are parking in the parking garage. The customers (clueless I think) are raving about how clean their cars are, how shiny, like just waxed, etc., etc.

I googled Ecowash and I've found an Australian operation, but they use a different color concept and logo. The mission is similar though...

I got a sample of DWG ages ago, didn't care for the stuff. Its OK as a QD but NOT for dirty cars. I have a bottle of the Amsoil stuff (I think its just relabled DWG), about 2/3 full if anyone wants it for the cost of shipping. QEW works MUCH better but takes more time.

Plus, at least the last time I checked, was also a multi-level marketing business. That's a HUGE red flag for me.

I think you are right about being multi-level marketing, one of our car club members was selling it a few years ago. I use on my flat black inner fender wheels and my frames and under carrage of several of my cars.

EcoWash is a rapidly growing waterless carwash/detailing franchise in Australia. They just expanded into Saudi Arabia/Europe and soon England. I read an article awhile ago about them wanting to come to the United States within 2 years. There are two similar ones starting overseas too...No-Wet Australia and Wowwash.

I've tested a few of the formulas they are using and was surprised at how well they worked...no marring etc. It surely ins't a full-on detail, but for someone who wants a quick wash it works.

can anyone say . . . pyramid scheme

i hold it up there with amway and tupperware . . . (although tupperware is pretty tough . . )

i used DWG about 5 years ago . . . and to be honest the only thing i really liked about it was the cool bottle it came in. it also smelled like a volitile substance . . .

thats just my .02 - im sure many others use it frewuently and love it . . . its just another product on teh market . . . like ONR and QEW -

my cabinet contains ONR. I like it, so im stickin to it.. . .

And the cost for a bottle of it in Australia is around the 60 dollar mark (500ml)

I prefer kleen dri shine which is made in western australia (same mob who make their own clay)

No matter how good their product is, once I get it, I mix up my own special blend with some prime acrylic and AJT in it. I only use it when my car gets lightly dusty but the slickness and shine it gives it really nice. And it's not marring the paint so I'm happy

never heard of ecowash till now

looking at their website atm, sounds like a great idea in theory and taking perfect advantage of these new waterless products and our diabolical lack of water (even though the beach is a few kms from my bedroom window hmmmm)

im a big QEW convert, would never have thought id be using a waterless wash on my soft solid black paint nor the other cars im sharing garage space with, but with my "playing it safe" wash process and cabinet full of the softest MF cloths i can find, its working great......and i can maintain a clean car everyday and with our ever tightening water restrictions (no car washing :nono atm water to be used for windscreen and headlight cleaning only)

so happy that ive decided to try the DP 4 in 1 for a comparo with the QEW. I dont think im going to bother with the ONR as im not too keen on the wax in the product messing with my Swissol Concorso. Id rather just give the car a quick 20 min Concorso application when it needs it :woot2:

QEW contains wax, ONR does not. It has polymers in it that do the cleaning and as a side effect, add slickness. It absolutely does not interfere with any wax or sealant...and I base this on using it on aproximately 1000 cars I have washed with it since it came out.

Good to know because i was starting to think that ONR might have interfered with zaino on my accord. Guess not :chuckle:

i always thought ONR has some sort of sealant/wax in it

i might give it a try then after ive tested the DP for a while

ive noticed QEW leave some residue behind, but i wouldnt call it a wax since it doesnt change the level of gloss on my paint. But when i look at my windows they are sometimes cloudy, which i then need to go over with some glass cleaner
