How avoid bra scratching for intermittent and high speed use?

I have recently starting taking my 911 to the track. I put 3M Invinca-shield on the nose, headlight area, and front spoiler, and used the hood piece from the 2 piece bra that came with the car from PO.



I also taped the edge of the bra down.



Upon removal, there were some microscratches (bra was clean inside). With the tape and the fact that it was the trailing edge, it wasn't flapping in the 120 mph speed induced wind, and they did come out easily with SMR & PC, but I don't want them there in the first place.



Thoughts?
 
I had a similar problem recently. Luckily scratches were extremely light and localized to one spot, thank God! Why not complete your Invinca-shiled kit and get the hood bra for it? Otherwise, only thing I know of is a product called Cleartastic, only for Vettes and Mustangs, they will be coming out with a temporary bra to put on under an existing bra exactly for the purpose you need. Damn! Why only for Vettes and Mustangs! :angry



I don't think the Porsche hood is close in shape either to buy one of these and maybe cut it to fit.

I've been thinking more of this...has anyone ever tried putting microfiber between the bra and the car? I'm talking just about the hood piece here, where it is nice & flat, not the fenders.



My concern is if the lip of the bra is not flush, it could flap, but if I have the microfiber under there, maybe it would not scratch?



Thoughts?
 
I don't have a bra on my car. I'm on the fence on it because of potential scratching (something gets caught under, etc.)

I would think that MF between the bra and hood would be better if you're able to keep it flush.

At 120 mph, who can see it ?!?! "Ah yes, those are speed lines, they make the car go faster" :p
 
What about racers tape? Two suggestions. One use it on the area under the bra where the scratches occured or I have seen people use racers tape about a quarter up the hood for protection in place of a bra. Do you tape off your turn signals, fog lights and headlights?
 
Out of curiousity, is racer's tape availible in any kind of local store? I know about but never thought about where to buy
 
Well, I did use something similar (gaffer's tape), but in the heat of central California, even the "no residue" stuff started to leave a residue. I did go get some masking tape the paint shops use in the baking booth, which is supposed to be good up to 180 degrees, but we'll see.
 
I have the 3m automotive product catalog and there is tape like you described. Guess if I ever want it I can got to a auto paint supply store
