2005 Honda Civic.
For years I've been trying to find a solution to keep the roof rail trim strips looking good.
On a Honda, they're apparently a metal core with a hard rubber/plastic body.
Over the years, they would develop weird splotches.
I tried one method of sanding them, and coating them in boiled linseed oil. Worked for a few months.
Last year, I sanded them again, primed, painted, and clear coated. Lasted thru the summer and winter, but a month ago they started peeling.
Don't recall exactly which kind of paint used, but think it was the Rust-Oleum Trim & Bumper Paint.
Is there a solution that will last?
Specifically, which type of primer, paint (acrylic? enamel?), and clearcoat would be best?
