Some help would be needed....

I'm going to treat my Thunderbird this weekend. I've got Meguiar's M-07, M-09, M-26 and M-66.

Should the aplying order be M-09, M-07, M-26 or something else. The car is black and the surface is not perfect but not bad either. It has little overspray on it and few dust spots on the clear coat.

Any tips & hints??

THANKS...

Well, since it has some overspray, a claying is definately in order. Wash, clay, #9, #7 if your in the mood (but not necessary), and #26.

Use your 66 as a lube for your clay and your last step after the 26.

Good luck! :xyxthumbs

Sounds about right to me, too!

I posted a similar question about a month ago and got told to buy the e-book and search! : pout:

of course I now know more than I ever wanted to know about detailing :)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't #66 a cleaner wax? It's called Quick Detailer, but it's not the same product as the consumer line Quik Detailer. I wouldn't think that a cleaner wax would be a good clay lube.

I just went on the assumption that it is a general purpose QD because I could not find it on Meguiars www site. The autopia term list says it is a QD. However, if it is a cleaner wax, it should not be used for lube. In that case either the general QD from the consumer line or FI should be used.

Nice catch! :xyxthumbs

For my own peace of mind, I just scanned through the Meguiar's site. Here's what I found.

Mirror Glaze #66 Quick Detailer -

One-step cleaner/wax, specially formulated for high-production reconditioning. Aggressive cutting action. Quickly and safely removes oxidation and blemishes. Restores deep gloss and provides a durable wax finish.

Mirror Glaze #6 Cleaner Wax -

A single step to brilliant protection. The right wax for many users is one that cleans, polishes and protects all in one simple step. Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax fills this need. Applied by hand or machine, it removes light oxidation and lays down an extremely durable high-gloss finish. Made For Professionals.

Quik Detailer -

Quik Detailer is the heart of the Quik Care System. It is the only product you'll usually need between washing and waxing. It can be used anywhere, anytime to remove fresh contaminants to help you keep that "just detailed" look. You just mist it on the surface and wipe off with a 100% cotton, terry cloth towel. You can use it for spot touch-ups or to "Quik Detail" all your paint surfaces. Many users keep a bottle in their car so they are prepared for any emergency. It's 100% safe on all clear coat Paints.

Quik Wax -

There's no easier way to enhance color, restore shine and add a light coat of extra protection in between regular waxings. Just mist it on and wipe it off to give your finish a Carnauba wax touch-up in just a few minutes.

#66 is like #6 in that it is a cleaner wax. I used it a long time ago and cannot recall if it is more or less aggressive than #6. But it is similar.

The QD product you are thinking of, Final Inspection, is Meguiar's #34.

EDIT: Ok, so the question has been answered and my memory restored. #66 has more "bite" and I recall using it with rotary buffers as a quickie one-step. #6 is higher in wax content and has less bite.

thanks AWD:up

You're welcome bretfraz! Actually, I'm glad that you remember using #66 as well. I wasn't sure if my memory was serving me well or not.

One thing I learned today - the Meguiar's site is a real pain to browse. They need a better search engine.

Yeah, I was looking for #66 under maintenance because it is called a QD. They sure could use a search function.
