Hello, as you will be able to tell im new to this so be patient.

I just got a fairly dark red SUV and i want it to look good (who dosnt) I purchesed it about 2 weeks ago and i alredy slapped some mothers cleaner wax on and it looks alot better then it did when i got it. but its not enough i want it to look superb......What can i do. its very smooth so i dont think i need to clay much or any at all. theres a few minor scratches around but that will happen over time i suppose. What can i do about those too.

Any help is appreciated

yes thanks for all the help and i didnt even see that button up there on top......i was thinkin a site like this without a few howtos hmmm....but thanks for the help and i have a feeling im goin to spend alot of time around here:D

a very long time and i used meguires ummmm swirl remover and then i used the merguires car show glaze( i think thats right) i was just goin to go meguiers carnoba wax but the place was out of it so i went with the mothers 3rd stage. (sorry i dont know ur little codes yet) yea it took most of the day....i would say probally close to 8 hours( dont know if thats fast or slow but i know it wore me out) i got alittle touch up left and i forgot to do a few spaces that are usally hiddin but i figured i better hit them as well. im only 16 and this is my second car but this is the first time i really went through more then "just wax" which is what i used to do before i came here and then u guys make my car look bad so im like what the heck so i gave it a shot.....its looks great. the pictures dont do justice.....i got alot of the smaller scratches out its a 98 so there was quite a few but i was pretty satisfied with the results and at this rate it can only get better and better so ill keep at her and keep updateing my pics for u and if anyone has any tips or anyting from what they see in the picture go ahead and tell me cause im new at this. thanks for all the input thus far and tell me if those brands suck or if this isnt the right stuff to be using........i probally should have clayed it but its in fairly good shape actually i think the previous owner kept good care of it.

Thanks again

Pappy

looks great but you definately want to think about claying next time. it will make the paint just that much smoother. did you do this by hand ?? then i can understand the 8 hours. :D

yea i did it by hand and i was planning on claying either late this fall or ill wait till next spring after the snow melts:(

im lookin at buffers as i type here and looking on what all i need to buy and all. with all the pads and everything.

my setup is a porter cable 7424 with pads from CMA ( properautocare.com )

Yellow pad for sutting, white pad for polishing, and gray for finishing ( wax/sealant)
