I was looking at some generators. I have a pickup and it doesnt have a top. I will have to remove the generator, time to time and my tailgate is no longer there. it is a solid sheet of custom work on the rear. IT SUCKS, i wish i had a tailgate. So i have to actually pick up the generator.

Anyone know of a powerful, but lighter generator that isnt 1200 bucks? The one im looking at is nice, quite 60 db, light only 60 lbs, 2800 watts, but 1200 bucks. Damn!! Kinda on the high side, but what can i do.

Buy a looooooooooooooooong arse extention cord. They don't weigh much.

Agreed, especially if you do most of your work at private residences. Not only have I never had anyone say I can't use their plug, they also appreciate I am not going to fire up a noisy generator for a few hours. If you do most of your work at office complexes that do not have an available outlet to use, a generator is a good purchase. Try looking at pawn shops. Sometimes you can get great deals at them. Also check the classifieds for a used generator.

how come you dont buy a cap? where you storing your products? or youre going to lug them in and out?

well there is not much to lug in and lug out. I dont have a cap, but i store everything in my garage. It doenst bother me putting stuff in and out. Only takes a short amount of time anyways.

yeah see how my first post say, I have no tailgate. That was my plan to do that. I actually found some generators such as honda that are 500 bucks, but 74 db and about the same weight. Wonder if these are any good. A good area for my business will be offices.

Quamen,

Honda generators are very good. I wouldn't go to crazy trying to find the quitest generator made. I have a 5500 watt porter cable, I'm not sure how many DBs it is. I've never had anyone complain about the noise. I've done work at office complexs, gyms, condo's, Marriott Hotel and not one complaint about noise. Most of my customers are amazed by my trailer and the fact that I am fully mobile with my own water supply and electricity (generator). I've lost several jobs prior to being fully mobile because of water or electricity not being easily accessible.

well, i went looking for one myself. I went to the local honda store and found a generator for around 500.00, this will be powerful enough to run the rotary and the vac at the same time for about 7-11 hours. ( this is what i was told by the dealer)
