Hiya everyone! Well my new baby got her first oil change today and as all us autopians know, you can't get an oil change without following it up with a detail, right? Okay , yea, I am obsessed too! Well today, after the oil, my 06' Corolla got her first full detail :getdown (As an aside, if any of you need a commuter car, I swear by my 37 mpg Corolla!!) I digress...
Well in an effort to try new products I have stocked in my supply chest, I decided to go with a different combo today. I decide to stick with a pair of German products and see how they'd perform on my Phantom Grey Pearl metallic paint.
Sorry no befores, but, the car has 4000 miles on it, and I detail, so you get an idea of what shape the paint was in. Anyhow, the pair I chose to use was 1Z- Paint Polish (Green can) and sealed with Menzerna FMJ x2 coats.
1Z Paint Polish- Typical German product in that it smelled very chemical like. Very easy to apply, great work time and it took out the minor dealer installed swirls without a hitch. My only complaint, I hate the cans design. Too much product lost to it's adhering to the lid/spout. Def a good product though for paint in good condition.
Menzerna FMJ- Again, chemical smell. Easy to spread but seemed to "dry" fairly quick in that it didn't spread as easily and thinly as some other sealents. (Like Megs 21). Polished off nice with a bit of dust, but nothing major. Leaves a nice slick shiny surface. I was saddened by the lack of "pop" in the paint. Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but just no bling. This has sometimes been a common complaint about synthetic sealants, and from my experience it's true with fmj. Shiny, but not much depth. I will try to remember to let everyone know how long it holds up.
Well that's my epistle for today, heres some pics......have a great day everyone and thanks for any comments.
