G15 Backing Plate Velcro

Finally got a chance to try out the G15 polisher I bought a awhile ago. I was planning on using Meguiar's MF 5" cutting discs (DMC5). They have been my go to for some time for moderate paint correction. I found out however that they don't fasten to the Griots backing plate velcro very well. I'm afraid the pad will spin right off the backing plate when using them.

Has any one has any issues w their G15 backing plate in terms of the velcro?? Just feeling the velcro portion itself it doesn't feel that "aggressive". I have a older Griots backing plate (BG5BP) that is much better is terms of the velcro but it won't fit on my G15 because it has a stud fastener vs the screw type on the G15.

Thanks. Yes it was probably back in the PC days. I've been using them for quite awhile. They did work fine on the backing plate I used w my G9 but they dont seem to want to stick all that well to the backing plate of my new G15. Time to go the Rupes route I guess...

There was a long explanation at the time of how the Meg's backing plate was different...but I think that is lost to the sands of time...or lost with MOL.

The google AI brings up this, from some sort of Autogeek source:

Meguiar’s backing plates feature a precise "micro-hook" hook-and-loop system and a highly specific, tapered edge designed specifically for their microfiber pads. This exact pairing ensures optimal energy transfer from your Dual Action (DA) polisher, prevents the pad's interface from tearing, and manages the intense heat generated by microfiber friction.

Before you go the "Rupes route" (I'm not sure what you mean by that), doesn't Griot's sell MF pads? I'm sure they would guarantee those to work on your G15.
