No before shots, but just to give you an idea of how bad the car was in, its a 1994 Cutlass that we bought brand new and this car has NEVER BEEN WAXED/POLISHED ect!!!!

Well anyways, I decided to give my moms car a detail and practice with my new Rotary...Its an offbrand Makita, Its the same body same colors same options same everything as the Makita Rotary...

Anyways, I used #83 and a Meg. Cutting Pad, and a Meg Polishing Pad With #80, 9 and Meg Finishing Pad with NXT after a GC Wash, CM Clay, ReWash

Well, the car was obviously riddled with swirls and scratches and other stuff, so it did a workout on my pads. I dont know if its me not getting used to the rotary, but it ALWAYS walks away from me and jumps and skips and all this other stuff, how do you get it to stop doing that?

If theres no way to get it stopped, then I will have no choice but to stop using it. Yes it got rid of 100% of the swirls and scratches, but I just dont have the time nor energy to fight with a rotary...

Did you try tilting the rotary a little bit? I have read that if you don't have enough product on the pad that the rotary will hop or skip. Looks like you did a really good job even though you had some problems.

Looks pretty good.

The rotary definately takes pratice, your not going to be able to get the hang of it the first time you use it like a PC. Keep praticing i'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

btw What rotary did you get? Was it the Chicago Electric from Harbor Freight? I just ordered that one and i'm looking forward to learning on it.

A couple of hints working with a rotary

A reference guide from a rotary rookie also.

The rotation of the pad will be in a clock-wise direction, Therefor if your holding the rotary right-handed your left hand will be holding the handle and your right will be holding the trigger.

If you look straight down over the machine to the pad, you are trying to find the balance between any direction (The sweet spot), therefore if the machine wants to go away from you (your Body), you will need to lower your left hand slightly to center back the pad to the surface. if you want the machine to go left you will want to raise your right hand slightly. By raising and lowering your hands you can steer the machine....do not over work your product you might end up adding what you are trying to remove "swirls".

when you find the sweet spot of the rotary knowing what action will affect what direction the machine will work effortlessly in your hands.

Hope this helps.

good Luck
