First Class Finish (new vehicle wax)? Question...

Hello all, Me and the wife bought a new Honda CR-V last week, and one of the things the dealer had added to it (supposedly) was a product called "First Class Finish" (or First Place Finish maybe?). They had added $1295(!) to the price of the car initially for this, although I finally got them to throw it in. Anyway, supposedly this product protects the finish better than any wax and they claim that if it chips etc etc they will repaint it for free. I am a bit skeptical of this to say the least. Has anyone heard of such a thing or have any experience with it? Should I just start using my own wax? When I washed it the other day the water did bead really well, but like I said I am skeptical. Thanks in advance!

Car dealers call this stuff "Mop N Glo". Its nothing but a cheap sealant product made by who knows. Could be a name brand or could be some crud made by a local yokel in his bathtub. The lot boys and porters who hang out in the service area slap it on with a buffer.

The only thing that has any potential value is their "warranty" so read your paperwork carefully. I'll bet it says something like to maintain your protection warranty you must bring back the car yearly and have the product reapplied for a fee.

Just another semi-bogus dealer scam that too many people fall for. Follow the procedures and tips you see here at Autopia. Purchased the Autopia Guide to Detailing at www.autopia-carcare.com . Develop a detailing strategy and stick to it. Your CRV will look new for many years if you do things this way. And you won't have to mess with the dealer scams.

Thanks for the reply guys. Ill check through our paperwork for any word of the stuff (I honestly dont remember seeing anything like that)...I will probably wait until the water doesnt bead so well and then apply my usual Meguiar's etc etc.
