Now, teachers: Let's say you have a 3 years old car, no garage, no waxes, no special care, just regular washes either by auto-wash or by hand. The usuall scratches and swirls.

The client wants it to look almost 'concours'.

What would you do, steps, products and all to achieve max results.

Thanks for your answers :bow

Well many factors affect the paint and exterior surfaces. Do you live in a very smoggy or duty enviornment? Is there any road salt, snow or ice in your region? Any hard water?

Well I would give an estimate of what I would do without actually seeing or feeling the car finish.

1. Wash with dawn

2. Clay (ABC the car if there is visible contaminates that clay does not solve.)

3. Polish with probably 3M Finesse It II with PC and foam polishing pad, may have to move on to a rubbing compound and/or a stronger pad

4. Seal with a good sealant. I think wax won't last long on a car that is not garaged and driven every day. (I use either Klasse, Zaino, P21s, Souveran.)

Clean windows with glass cleaner and polish with a good glass polish (inside and out.) Stoner's Invisible Glass and Zaino Z12

Vaccum out the inside and shampoo the carpets and seats. (Shop Vac and Meguiar's APC+) Dress all vinyl (Vinylex for gloss, Black Magic Dashboard protectant for matte finish) and treat all leather (Lexol or Pinnacle or Eagle One.)

Clean and dress the engine. (Meguiar's APC and some vinylex.)

Polish all polishable metal.

jgv - I'd do as JasonC8301 suggested, with one addition: a glaze between your last polish and the final sealant/wax. Something like Vanilla Moose, P21S GEPC, Mothers, Omega, etc.
