Exploding Soda Can.

I have a customer who had a soda can explode in her mini van. You can imagine the mess it made. Head liner, door panels and dash are super sticky.

Any suggestions on how to approach this mess?

How you normally would? I don't want to come off like an a$$, but since this is more of a large scale job

Do two buckets, one with a mix of APC and water; another with just clean water to rinse your towel (MF).

Good luck, the head liner will just require patience. You may have to pull some of the door panel apart to clean it to your standards. Might want to research how to do that before she comes in.

Soon after joining Autopia in 2002 I had one of these calls come in. The door panels, dash, console area, seats were sticky but not that bad to cleanup. Took care of it with just water and a little mild liquid soap. On the seats I used water and an upholstery foam.

The big headache was the head liner. Cleaned up as best I could (sponge and water did not turn out very good) but did not charge for the work.

Good luck and have patience like Altima says.

Anybody ever try using an extractor on the headliner? Maybe the LGM?

From what I've read/learned is that you shouldn't use anything with a significant amount of suction. With that being said....I personally wouldn't try it. Headliners are usually very fragile and are attached with a water based glue, so *minimal* saturation is best. I usually just use a Woolite water mix or some Stoners IG sprayed onto a MF.
