Ever Had One You Wish You Had Back?

I have a new BMW M3 and am wondering about the interior. It is black interior and I'm not sure what to use to protect the dash from sun and to keep it looking new. I'm not even sure how to describe the material. Also have a few scuff marks on the lower parts of the doors which is the same material as the dash. Any suggestions?

Both parts are vinyl. Use something with a UV protectant in it. I prefer 303 Aerospace Protectant. It offers a natural satin sheen.

If vinyl or plastic or leather try a water based protectant like 303, zaino, Dashmagic semi gloss. They will be milky like. Most provide a matte finish and will protect pretty well.

I suggest doing a search because there is more threads out there discussing these products and more.

Good Luck

It comes out very nice with a low gloss even shine. If you want no gloss just dilute the 303 a bit and use a damp/wet rag to apply it. It works better than leather creams on the bmw because the dash material is so course. I use the 303 on the dash, doors, everywhere.

As always these guys are right on!! 303 rules, but I personally prefer the shine of Vinylex which is shinier. Congrats on the new ride, Coupe or Ragtop, 6-spd. or SMG?? I would do anything for an M3!!! You're so lucky! ;)

Yeah, its vinyl and 303 works great on BMW interiors, oh yeah and with my limited experience with M3s, EF Clear pearl gets the drool off the hood quite nicely.:D :up

<strong class='bbc'>How long did you have to wait to take delivery? [/b]</blockquote>I think the better question would be, how many thousand did you have to pay over MSRP? Or was that just for '01's?

For BMW's I have found just one person that paid even near MSRP and anyone that says they did is full of something :)

Of all the dealerships in Washington and Oregon, not one was willing to move off "FMV" (fair market value).

I'm convinced you get what you pay for.

This is totally ridiculous!!! I read an article about this subject in the "Roundel" a couple issues ago. I believe MB and Porsche punish dealers that charge over MSRP. BMW just lets it happen as evidenced by the M3, Z8, etc. My dad has purchased 2 Bimmers new and he has never paid over MSRP!! Granted, a leftover '95 525i, and a '01 325xi are not exactly the most sought after models but it is the principle of it. I agree, you do get what you pay for, but why pay more than you should???

Hmmm... I dont know. All I know is that I payed roughly $1200 over invoice; no markups at all.

And as for the M3 dash, 303 Aerospace Protectant or Black Magic Semi-Gloss Dashboard protectant both work well. Don't use any greasy silicone tire product (like Tire Wet) on the dash!

Oh...and great car! :up

I think we have the same dash material, and 303 works great on it! I find that Klasse looks great on the Titanium Silver also !

james, it's nice to see Klasse work well on another silver car

I vote for Black Magic Semi-gloss Dashboard Protectant (or 303 ;)) it's inexpensive but make sure you get the correct BM product as they have greasy silicone products, yuck.

JC - congrats on the M3 - sweet! Did you get the 6-speed or the SMG?

Anyway - I have a 2000 M5 - has the same vinyl in it. (All-leather was an option on the M5, but I didn't get it - I assume if it was an option on the M3 and you had bought it you would have told us.) Sounds like "303" is good stuff - I trust these guys. I haven't used it myself - however I can also recommend the Zymol vinyl care stuff. I really DON'T like Zymol in general - their stuff is usually average and grossly overpriced IMHO, but i really like their vinyl conditioner. It doesn't shine too much.

I got on the waiting list in Nov 2000. Just picked up my M3 2 weeks ago, I got the 6th one so far from my dealer. I paid exactly MSRP of $51,900 which was the sticker price plus my options (moonroof, powerseats, xenon lights).

Thanks for the great advice, just ordered all my supplies today so I should have a shiny car next week!

303 and Vinylex work great. (I prefer Vinylex slightly due to a higher shine, but 303 "levels" much better and last longer.)

My "matte" interior is hard to protect but these two products are very good. You on Bimmer.org yet?

Been using Griots Vinyl/Rubber dressing for post-cleaning of interior, sends off a shine that almost seems to sparkle.

My experiece with Griots is that its expensice ($40 for 32oz) and doesnt last long. But thats just my experience.
