Drying with microfibre

I was watching the Barret auto auction on television. Someone was wiping a blue ferrari that sold for 75k with a blue microfibre rag, he did the exaust and the plastic bumper then some of the quarter panel. Is it alright to wipe dust, fiinger prints with a cheap blue microfibre towel on painted surfaces? I thought microfibre scratches paint and should be used on glass or chrome.

No. Microfiber is one of the safer things to use on your car, permitting it's clean. As long as you haven't dropped it and you are using a quick detailer or water spray, it's perfectly fine. Also, don't wipe the exhaust and then the paint with the same towel ;)

Once you use quality MF you won't use anything else.

I have probably 300 MF products. From Pakshak to Autopia to Autogeek. I can't even remember all the places I purchased from. I would not waste a good MF on my engine compartment or other grungy jobs. There is no point to it. The cheap ones work fine in those areas. On my paint thats a different story.

Of the 300 MF you have which one do you rate the best?

Of the ones I have it's a tie for top spot between the Pakshak Yellow Ultra Fine and the Sonus Buffing Towel from Autopia Store.

Pakshak's White Ultra Fine is also excellent, it's a close second.

Pakshak yellow ultra-fine, here I come!!! :bounce

Pakshak has some new MF. Ultra Plush and Ultra Plush Plus. I haven't purchased any yet or heard too much about them. You might want to check them out as well when you order your Ultra Fine. All my towels from Pahshak are excellent you really can't go wrong with Ranney's products.

What are your impressions about Autogeek's Cobra MF?

From Autogeek I have,

The Magic/Miracle Towel - Excellent for buffing and QDing. Not too long ago this was the standard for a MF Towel. There are better available but these are still very good.

Large 20 x 40 waffle weave. As good as my other waffle weaves. Excellent for drying. Ugly purple color not that it matters.

Small 16 x 24 waffle weave. Same as the larger one just smaller. Great for windows and drying the bottom half of car. Ugly lime green color.

Cobra MF applicator. Nice and soft and no marring of the paint. Not as nice as my Pakshak MF applicators.

I have some of the Pakshak Ultra Plush MF towels and these are excellent. Extremely soft and deep thick pile. I have only tried two other brands (very disappointed with Meguiars) but cant imagine it gets much better than these.

I have just ordered another dozen.
