Detailing Process Different With Single Stage?

I have never really detailed a car with single stage paint yet and plan to in a few weeks so my question is, Can you take the same approach(Polishing) to detailing the paint of a single stage as you would with a clear coat? For example, I plan to DACP/#82/NXT my clear coat truck this spring and I am also doing my brothers single stage paint on his car, can I use the same process when detailing his car to bring the shine back. What are the differences between the two paints(Harder paint, or thiner paint etc..) and is there anything special i should know before I start to work on a single stage paint. Just want to get all the information I can on single stage and the differences before I start on his car and do any damage.

Also, I plan to use my PC with LC pads for the process, will polishing a single stage car ruin the pads. Will the paint wash off the pads? Do you guys use seperate pads for single stage and clear coat. These pads are not cheap and I don't want to ruin them after one use on a single stage paint. Thanks for all the help.

Clay the vehicle first, After #82, #7 should add that pop in the paint of the single stage then NXT followed w/S100

GOOD LUCK

Yeah, those products will work fine with the ss paint. Stuff that works on b/c also works on ss, but sometimes not always vice versa. And as newagain said, adding something like #7/#81 after the "regular" polishing can really add something to ss.

The only time there's a REAL ss-specific issue is when working with WHITE ss- it's harder than you can imagine. Otherwise, I usually find ss is SOFTER than b/c and easier to work. Some modern ss paints (Lexus, I think) are sorta thin, so don't overdo it with the abrasive polishes.

Sometimes ss does get pretty oxidized, so don't freak if you get a LOT of paint transfer on the pads. It doesn't seem to cause any trouble for me. The pads aren't ruined; they clean up pretty well and it's no problem. Yeah, I DO use separate pads for ss, but I dunno if it's really necessary. I do like to have plenty of pads on hand in case they load up. I don't like to wash out pads and keep going, as the water can make polishes act differently.

Thanks for the replys, Yes I was planning on claying too, I just forgot to mention that in my post. I plan on starting to detail on the weekends for some extra money this summer so I am sure i will probably run into a few SS cars. Might have to order another set of PC pads for those and keep them seperate from my b/c pads i use. Thanks again for the help.
