detail king classes?

I've been to the class and had an opportunity to meet the detail king staff. Nick and his crew are good people. For the money, the class is not bad. It is a network opportunity getting to meet some other detailers and I was able to get a ton of marketing ideas, some have worked better than others, but its a work in progress.

Where the class is lacking, is the fact that there is not an opportunity to get hands on instruction. He presents a slide show on a vehicle being detailed.

Detail King is based out of the Pittsburg, PA area. He is trying to set up a west coast location. When I attended the class he was/is in the process of looking for a site, where he could set up a hands on class, like he has on the east coast.

I did learn some great marketing ideas from the class and by networking with the other attendees.

I did get an opportunity to sample some of detail kings products, (He ships them to you) IMHO, some are good, some are not.

I did get a chance to meet other detailers which is always cool.

I did take a mini vacation to SoCal and write it off as a business expense.

As far as learning any detailing tips, I've learned alot more on this board. But to to be fair, when I took the class, I didn't know what questions to ask.

I think Detal King is the best source on towels, when your purchasing in bulk quantaties. I purchased a total of 54 quality towels for $80. Look under towels on their website and judge for yourself.

So in summary: for a 2 day class in the low $200 range, where you get 2 days of breakfast and lunch, networking opportunity, marketing ideas, your questions answered by someone who has been the business for nearly 20 years, a business write off, IMO is worth it.
