Danase Assassin Tire and Wheel Cleaner

Recently purchased some Danase Assassin and gave it a try. After hearing of many cautionary tales of wheel acids staining many users' wheels I was very hesitant to buy the product. I decided to try the product to give it a try on the interior side of my wheels for two reasons. 1) Bob touted the product and gave assurance that it was safe and 2) the interior of my wheels of my 00' Eclipse are so bad with 8 years of built up brake dust, tar, and other garbage that I honestly did not think a damaging acid could make them look any worse. So using the inner wheels as a test subject made sense.

About three months ago, I tried to clean that garbage off using tar remover, followed up with with triple strengh car wash with degreaser in it followed up with very abrasive clay followed up with an AIO. After a couple hours of scrubbing, that above process only made a slight dent. So I said the heck with it and sealed wheels with a sealant to prevent further damage and said good enough.

It was warm recently so I decided to take my tires off and give Assassin a try. Once I got the tires off, one at a time I sprayed the inner wheel liberally with Assassin and noticed that some of the stubborn build up on the tires was already starting to run off the wheels. While the product is meant to be a spray on rinse off product, because so much of the junk on my inner wheels has been baked on for 8 years, I decided some agitation would be needed so I prepared a bucket of car wash and scrubbed the wheel with a cheap terry applicator that I only use for my wheels.

The result - great improvement to the inner wheels. To get the inner wheels 100% clean would have required having the wheels redone at probably $50-100 a wheel. However, the improvement is dramatically better than the results I got six months ago using tar remover/strong wash/clay/AIO. I am very, very pleased with the results. Before using the Assassin, you could look through the wheels and see the inner wheels were filthy standing 3-5 feet from my car. Now you would have to get on your hands and knees to notice the left over build up on the wheels. I give Assassin two thumbs up! While I doubt I will ever get the inner wheels completely clean, next spring I may make the wash twice as concentrated, add a generous amount of P21S Total Auto Wash to the wash and allow Assassin to sit on the inner wheels longer. Maybe this will get me closer to having really clean wheels!

I recommend Assassin to anyone. If you are like I was and hesitant to use an acidic product like Assassin, try it on the inside of wheel in a spot you cannot see when the wheel is mounted on your car. That should give you assurance to use it all over your car. Since it only costs $9, I really recommend giving it a try.
