99.99% of used car dealers have no clue what clean is.



For $75.00 you could run it through the local car wash then apply a OTC cleaner wax and super greasy, oily, dressing. I am sure the guy would love it.



Just remember to clean the windows, car dealers think if the windows are spotless the car looks better.
 
ehh I only charge $80 for dealer cleanups. And thats the full montey on them. Although they send me about 10 a week so it seriosuly makes up for it in volume.
 
dealers are way too generous. Not only that but he will give you more cars to do. So it will be like working for $5 an hour constant. Oh ya he is also looking for a pro too. I frigging hate dealers personally ( I was one too). If they want to be in the business and want to be cheap, then detail it themselves. I understand they want it cheap, but do not expect a pro.



I did a quickie on a Viper for a dealer and he loved how it came out. When it was time to get paid, he said he was not going to pay my price and he wanted a discount cause he was a dealer and he never pays retail for anything. We had a bickering back and forth as I tried to stay professional, but I ended up in the end and I told him if wants to insult me, then I will insult him. He told he that he is not making much money and the business sucks. I told him it is not my fault he is a failure and he should learn how to buy and sell cars correct. Granted he does make a ton of money and he has a 2 million dollar house with no overhead and is only 35 like me.



Then yesterday I hear him on the phone bragging to his friend on how amazing his Viper came out and how he had the best detailer around do it and he might not sell it now. I was pissed when I heard that and it really got to me and today will be a fun day when I give him his bill. I know we will get in a fight for sure and I am heated right now as we speak. I am not knocking anything off and I gave him a deal in the beginning anyway. I told him my price before I did it and told me to do it. He is in for a rude surprise today if he wants to be like that again and I will not be nice at all:bat .



Funny part was the mechanics said they would have payed for his car just for the way I put him in his place and insulted him. I never do that to anyone, but when he said I was only a detailer and it is a minimum wage job I blew right the F up until he ran in his office. This guy has a lot of balls and that is for sure.



Well I am off to go see him right now.:birthday: it's time to pay the piper pal.:grinno:



ps...little does he know, that I know that he is cheating on his wife also:woot: It's going to be a fun day...I feel it:grinno:

Ryan, that's a great story bro. Gonna have to keep my eye on this thread aroundt he time you get home from work. The dude knows the price and requests you to work then tries to tell you it's a minimum wage position? ***? Most the detailers on this site have put much more time and effort into thier work than every dealer im surrounded by.
 
I think former car detailing pro's should take over dealerships

At least they understand what it takes to do a car properly



The world is full of people who have no idea what true detailing is.

For $75 dollars, I'd do an autopian wash, interior vac, clean and dress wheels and tyres and clean the windows with aquawax
 
He never showed up yesterday. I will visit him today after I pick up my new truck. I hope he does not pull any crap or I will make him have a very bad day.



Oh ya forgot to mention the other part of the story. While we talking loudly, he said he has cars done for $75 in and out and that I was way to expensive. I laughed and said, I remember that Jag that you had for months that you had them do for $75 and they do it once a month and they were on their third time or "strike" in my terms. They swirled the hell out of the car badly and the worst I have ever seen ever in 18 years. The wool pad they were using did not even have any fibers on it. I will have to take a pic of it as all you would be horrified. I call it job security! All they did to the interior was goop shine it over the dirt. They used something thick like 50w oil. But all in all it was only $75 so....he got what he paid for. Having them do this 3 times for a grand total of $225. Everyone that had seen the car on the lot would walk away as it looked like the paint had serious issues. He never even payed attention to what they were doing and does not know what a car finish should look like.



So weeks go by and the wax they slapped on the buffer with the worn pad started to turn white and it really started to look like crap. Now keep in mind this was a nice dark blue 2001 Jaguar XJ8. I tell him I could fix it and he does not believe me at all. I told him I would do the exterior only for an introductory price of $200 wholesale so he can see my work. It was very easy to do and used SIP on a yellow lc pad and 106 to finish it off with z8 after. I was actually shocked at how fast and easy this was to do and only took 4 hours to correct perfect.



He pulls in the lot and the guys working there were all staring at it in disbelief. He came over and said WOW you are good. He then stated how long till it all washes off. I told him there is nothing to wash off. I even did a degreaser test on the rear quarter to prove it and it was funny as I had a crowd of guys watching. It felt like I was doing an infomercial. Then this funny kid that works there said, "who are you" and we all started laughing. It was a riot and so friggin funny.



He paid me on that one no problem, but said I still should have done the int. for that price. I told him not even a fat chance with all the oil in it.



I think his problem is not even my prices, it's just the fact that he took a $3000 loss on the Viper at the auction cause he payed way to much for it in the first place.

Or better yet. I can do the drive through car wash and spend the extra bucks for the triple polish. Can't get much better than that.

I work sometimes for a dealer - friend from highschool guy,that runs a bodyshop and sells a few cars on the side. He's just getting started and we have an understanding on each car what he expects and how much it will cost to get it that way, on the cheap beaters (like the POS I'm working on now) he basically wants a wash & poliseal, and clean/vac interior. I use some Stoners Mo'shine on the tires and we're all done. I detail on the side and it's nice to pick up some extra cash and I don't have to deal with a picky customer!



The other plus is being able to get some bodywork done very cheap IF I need it.
 
They called me a couple of times and had me do 14 black F350 and GMC trucks. It sucked they were all black and heavily beat except for a couple. But the owner payed well and was very cool and did love my work.



Now on the other hand, the idiot manager that I had an issue with has a couple of highline luxury cars that he sells and had me do a black Mercedes that his detailers messed up cause he wanted to save a buck. The swirls they left on it were bad and every customer that looked at it complained. So, he was begging me to do it and finally agreed to pay me what I wanted, so I did it for him. When I was done he was suppose to come to the shop to pay me and never showed up. So I called him and said he would be there in 5 minutes. 1 hour goes by and still a no show. I call him and he said he is now home and he will catch up with me sometime next week. I told him I need to get paid now and he hung up. I was angry so, I drove over to his house and got my money. He opened the door a small crack and threw the money out and closed the door. This guy is the hardest to get paid from and never wants to pay on time. I told him to never call again. Oh ya, his house is a mansion too...



Also, him and his wife got divorced last month. I knew something was wrong with them and I am sure she found out he had a couple girlfriends.



I then seen him the other day and he was all nice to me and kissing my butt and I just ignored him. He asked me to do his BMW and I just told him I am way to busy and that he could not afford me. I will not give him the pleasure of making his car perfect so he can make even more money.



They have the most hacked up cars that I have ever seen and it is not even worth it to me anymore. I found better opportunities.
