Could use some advice

I have a '89 MB 560SL whose finish needs some love. My detailing kit includes:

PC 7424

Lake Country Pads (Green, Orange, Red, Black and White)

Menzerna Final Polish II, PO6 FF

Klasse All in One Polish and Glaze

PS21S

I have been unable to remove small oxidation marks caused by what looks to have been bird droppings and restore general shine.

Can someone provide some advice?

Cool car...I love Benzes of that vintage and still miss ours now and then.

Benz clear from that vintage is thin, fragile stuff. Assuming it's original paint, you might well need to settle for far-from-perfect lest you overdo things. Yeah, even with just a PC and OCPII.

The problem in question might even be early-stage clearcoat failure.

I wouldn't expect to get that paint nearly nice enough for the Klasse twins (which I do like and use on certain vehicles).

I don't think I'd use the aggressive pads on it either..no orange.

I'm not a big fan of Optimum polishes and I do *not* like the Menzerna 106FF, so gee...I'm just shooting down your whole plan, huh :o

Anyhow...I'd go about this carefully with the idea being "just a little better...don't have an "oops" here...". I'd probably lean towards just a glaze-then-wax after you've done the polishing, don't think I'd even use a sealant at all on that particular paint.

Without being there I can't say just *what* I'd do  But I think I'd lean towards something like Meguiar's #80 followed by the wax. Eh...sorry I can't offer more definite advice, this is just a tricky one and I really don't want to hear that you tried something and messed up the car.
