Color transfer from belt to leather seat

AMDin93103

I like cheese.
I worked on a '99 E320 yesterday and was pretty unsuccessful in remedying a problem on the drivers seat. It seams that the maroon leather belt the owner wears to work has been transferring its dye onto the leather of the seat. I used a 8:1 mixture of Woolite with a brush moderately stiff brush, tried a Magic Eraser every-so-lightly with no progress at all and then APC+ at three part water. Nothing even touched it. It seems as though the transfer has absorbed into the seat but that is my take. I am going to meet with the car this week if I can find a solution. Thinking about trying the two step Leatherique- RO & PC. Anyone have a better idea?? BTW, the stain spans the entire width of the seats lumbar.

I've had alot of luck using the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They're the best invention ever when it comes to this kind of thing.

same thing happened to my Jetta that my father drove. The dye from his blue blazers got into the coated leather.

Meguiar's #39 and a nail brush got most of it out. But it was vinyl coated leather.

Thanks for the responses people. I have a call in to my upholstery shop but I am going to take a stab at it tomorrow with Leatherique. I have a feeling that the RO might just "smoke it out" and I will follow up with PC. I do have a sample of #39 on the way. . . for giggles.

I really want to fix this problem so if anyone out there is holdin' back, fill me in.

I have the same problem on my MB (funny thing is, it's only my Coach belt that transfers-ask your client if he wears a Coach belt). RO didn't touch mine. I haven't found anything chemically that will remove it-the Zaino leather cleaner (Z9?) did take some of it off using a very aggressive mf and a lot of scrubbing. I think it was more the scrubbing that did it vs. the chemical action since it's it didn't touch what was down in the grain.
