Claybars...

Hey everyone, I currently have 2 Zaino Z-18 clay bars, and they seem like they don't perform nearly as good as my Meguiar's one did. When I use these, the surface isn't incredibly smooth like it was when I used the Meguiar's bar. I mean, it's smooth, but it was much smoother when I used Meguiar's. Has anyone experienced something similar? I might order a few of those new Autopia clay bars since my Zaino ones are ready to head for the garbage soon.

Everything else the same? I mean, was the paint polished/sealed in bothcaes you are comparing? That's all I got to offer as I've only clayed once in my life.

I can't speak to the Z clay bars, having never used them. I've used Mothers, ClayMagic, and Autopia clays. If you're not feeling that awesome slickness, though, then something must be dreadfully wrong. I can heartily recommend the Autopia clay (my 1st choice) or Mothers (my 2nd choice) if you want to try a different product to be sure you're perceptions are correct.

Hi MattZ28,

I too have to agree. I had used the Zaino Z-18 clay bars in the past but they did not clean up as well as the clay bars I have used from Meguiars, Clay Magic, Poorboy's, or ClearKote.

I no longer use the Zaino clay bar but there are people who really like it.

I gotta agree with you as well. The latest Z bars are too stiff for my taste.

My current favs are Wolfgang's polyclay (seems to have the right amount of stiffness so it doesn't disintegrate) and pliability (easier to re-shape, molds to panel surface well, fairly grabby.)

Only thing I don't like about the kit is the lube (you can only take so much cheap cologne smell.) Not a big deal since I use my own soap/water mix as lube anyway.

I also like the Autopia bar and Mother CA Gold. CA Gold bar was a little too 'plasticy' for my taste. I didn't feel it grabbed as well as WG polyclay but it works reasonably well.

Thanks everyone.....I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about the Zaino clay. I'll order a few Autopia bars. :up
