Clay isn't removing everything

Hey guys,

I'm detailing a white 2008 audi a4. I clay ed the whole car, but a lot of spots (especially in the tight nooks and crannies) it seemed like the clay wasn't removing any of the contaminants. Stuff was showing up on the clay bar, but it didn't make any difference to the eye that I could see. It seemed like I could have went over it with the clay 1000 times and not seen any real improvement. What else would you suggest to remove these contaminants?

What is the brand and type of claybar you are using ??

Way back when I was using Claybars, you could actually hear the wet bar going over the wet panel, making this shearing noise, and then it would go silent, and you knew by this and by how much smoother it felt that this spot was probably good now. A quick dry with a towel, feel with a dry hand and you could move on to the next spot..

What is your own experience using your claybar? Is it like mine ??

Yea same thing. i always felt and heard the shearing noise but it never stopped and got smooth. I think I was using a meguairs clay bar but I kind of thought they were all the same.

Wow, that paint looks like it needs IronX stat!

This is likely below surface contamination, which is why the clay won't remove it. I'd get a liter of IronX, you might need that much.

I'd use ValuGard's "ABC" decontamination system myself, claying as needed while the "B" is dwelling. But yeah, that calls for *chemical decontamination*, not clay.

And then at some point I'd probably want to derust/touch up those chips.
