Can touch up paint fix this?

Well the other day I was driving on the express way and a truck kicked up a block of wood either that or it fell of his truck and then kicked up but anyway it hit my hood and left huge scratches. Wonder if touch up paint will be able to fix this, it's way deep into the primer, needless to say i was livid when I found the scratch. :angry

Thats a pretty large area to touch up with store bought touchup paint.Try searching for paint chip repair guys local to you to handel it or a shop to respray the headlight cover and blend the bumper.
 
Hmmm so I couldn't just buy a bunch of touchup paint thats the same color fill it in wetsand it down then compound it?
 
the touchup paint would be a lot darker once dried but you COULD do it .

Also you could do the paint pen and just draw the lines in full .
 
You can use touchup paint but because of the scuff. Looks like some is to the base paint some to the clear all various "base" colors are different so the hue of the touch up paint will be slightly off once dry. Plus whatever orig paint has faded/changed since the day it was painted from the sun etc. You can touch it up but it will not be perfect unless you sand the area and paint blend it.

You could do it, but it will be a lot of work and will require a ton of patience. I just did a similar scratch on my car, about the same size and to the metal too. A grocery cart hit me - I went and got a matched touchup pen and primed the scratch, then did two 'coats' with the tip of the pen itself, then 3 with a toothpick. I let each one dry 4 hours or overnight in between - wetsanded then polished the wetsand marks out. You can't see it anymore, but it took me a couple days so it might be worth getting it done at a shop if you don't have the time.
