Best pads for rotary

I'm thinking about purchasing a rotary sometime in the near future so I thought I would start looking into the best pads since Autogeek is running a sale right now. Which pads/wool bonnets does everyone suggest? I'm going to be using it with Poorboys products if that makes a difference.

Hey Big Dog, I wish I lived near MB! My favorite vacation destination. My Dad's family lives up in Tabor City. OK, back to your question, I have Lake Country 6.5" pads, bought for my PC. I just got a 4.75" backing plate from AG when I oredered my Makita, the work OK. If I didn't already have a bunch of LC pads, I would get Edge2K pads. It's impossible to get a velcro pad "perfectly" centered.

Are you using the 4 3/4 BP with your 6".5" pads? just curious....also it is not impossible to center a pad with 6"-7" BP due to the hole on the BP that is dead center..but i would use the LC 7".5" pads...they also have a hole in the center of the pad ..then align the hole directly with the on on the 6" flex BP..Look how the BP fits inside the concave pad and the BP goes edge to edge..IMHO ,you cant do this with a 4 3/4 BP 6".5" pads the smaller BP and larger pads are what i think cause's the pads and the BP to fail prematurely..

Joe, my LC 6.5" pads don't have a hole in the middle, if they did I would hit to hole every time - come to think of it, I do that naturally. But these things are like the carnarval game where you try to align circles. So my next pads are going to be Edge 2K.

I totaly agree with you..IMHO its a design flaw but with the larger pads you won't have that problem..keep in mind the foam between the E2k pads is not the same Foam as LC...there is a difference..it all comes down to prefference and what works best for you..

That is not exactly true. We have all the same foams available as LC we only sell what is ordered. In our 8inch pads the standard is the softer polyester foams and in the 6 inch the yellow and green are our stiffer durafoams (but we have them available in the softer foam too) and the Orange is a stiff European foam (same as LC) No one has a monopoly on foam, we only claim to have the best system.

I bet many don't know your foam pads come in less abbrassive foam then your 6" pads unless we bypass the sponsors site and read the information posted on the Edge site..I never knew the 6" pads more abbrassive at lower speeds.
Thanks for clarifying this..

I like the Edge pads because they have a slight concave curve.
How much of a concave is there, as compared to the VC LC pads. I was considering converting to the Edge system for my rotary, but I am not interested in a concave surface pad. I much prefer my flat pads to the VC pads for the PC.

i like edge2000 they are idiot proof . i tried the edge2000 blue waffle weave the other night and it was very nice ..

I beg to differ that every pad manufacturers foams are the same. They are not.

If you read my post more carefully you will see that I said all foams are AVAILABLE TO US. We can source foam from any foam manufacturer worldwide and make them into and Edge or Edge2000 pad. I beg to differ that a pad company would have a monoploy on foam.
