Anyone use Prima Banana Gloss?

Hey guys,

Anyone here use the Banana Gloss from Prima? I couldn't find much information on them here in Autopia...

If you use them, please share your thoughts on them. I am especially interested in their swirl hiding ability.

thanks!

The product instantly hazes when it reaches the paintwork after 1-2 seconds. You can apply it to hot or cold paint and also in or out of the sun. It is super easy to apply and take off too. Overall durability is 1+ months which isn't bad for something that doesn't need much time to bond to the paint. It also does have a gloss factor into it as well, I like to use it after a normal wash so I can complete the cycle by waxing it.

Try it, you probably will not be disappointed :)

Nice. Do you see any swirl hiding capabilities with this product?

I never stacked multiple layers yet. I'll probably give it a try on my test Jag bootlid I have in my backyard later this week...

That is very interesting indeed.

Would stacking multiple layers of BG give better results for swirl hiding? Kinda like how ppl layer Zaino Z5.

Thx

I don’t know about layering, as I only do once over’s with BG. But i can tell you that in my opinion just one application of BG has the filling characteristics of many multiple coats of Z5. Down side is you don’t get the durability of the Zaino. Also I think BG gives you kind of a deep wet look finish, where as Z5 gives you that crisp clear hard shell look.

You may want to check out Prima's wax as you dry Hydro as well:

Swirl Filling Products from Prima Car Care - ShowCarDetailing

yes. i was looking into hydro as well. if i were to use BG and Hydro together, what would be the best way to use them? Put BG on every wash, and maybe use Hydro as a QD?

I would use hydro every wash, I really like hydro but went another route that was cheaper. Use BG once a month or every other week. Just my suggestion

Because I have an interest in the Prima line and plan an order I asked some questions of Detailers Paradise and received this response:

Yes, BG can be layered upon itself. That said, most users find that it does

well with just one layer and thus they do not layer it (although some do as

well).

Yes, BG will bond over polymer sealants very well. However, the typical

polymer sealant will not bond over BG due to the carnauba content in BG.

BG was designed so that Hydro can be applied over it very nicely for a

combined effect of the two products.

While BG and Amigo do share some traits, Amigo is a stronger paint cleanser

style polymer-based glaze (read: concealer) and pre-wax step while BG is a

stronger concealer style carnauba-based wax. Amigo is typically used as a

pre-wax step to cleanse the paint and to help hide imperfections (although

it can be used as a short-term polymer wax). BG is a carnauba-based wax

that also contains some paint cleansers and a significant amount of

concealer. Each product gives the paint a different look... a look which is

in the eye of the beholder as to which is "better" than the other.

Ultimately, if you're looking for swirl hiding capabilities then go with BG.

If you're looking for the longest protection then go with Epic (which is

much more durable than either BG or Amigo but which does not do much

hiding/concealing).

That said, if you want the best of all worlds (swirl hiding and protection)

and don't mind multiple steps, then I would advise an application each of

Amigo, Epic, and BG (in that order).

Does that help clarify? If not, please let me know and I'll explain the

products further. Also, please let me know if you have any other questions.

i will try it and report back. maybe i will try the comparison thing with blue tape that you guys do.

thx guys!

intriguedetail.com - the guy sells it. Its a denver based company, his friend developed the prima lineup supposedly. I got a sample of some stuff from him when I signed up for another forum and talked to him about it.

BG is definitely one to keep on hand for defect hiding, black cars, and ones that need some gloss! Its really easy on and off!

The Banana Gloss and the Hydro are staples in my winter washing line.AS they are quick and easy to use and they look great

Prima is local to me so I use almost everything in their line. BG is nice for the sheer ease of use. I apply it via pc with a LC gray pad in the sun and you can let it sit for hours and it still wipes off with ease.
