Any suggestions for a spray on wax.

I'd like some opinons about locally available spray on waxes. I'm not looking for perfection, just ease of use and some protection. It's not actually for my personal car. Is there anything that's worth using?

Most OTC spray waxes will be easy to use, but protection will be bare. I have used Meguiar's Quik Wax with success and it leaves a nice shine, but not much depth.

The effort it takes to even use a spray wax, you could simply use a regular non-spray type like NXT liquid that has a cleaner and a protectant all in one. Granted NXT by itself won't make that car really look a whole lot better, but neither will just a spray wax.

If you're looking for an extremely quick and easy product that protects *decent* yet better than a spray, I'd definitely suggest Meg's NXT.

That being said, there are some really good spray waxes available too. The newest one getting a lot of buzz around here is Optimum. Just spray and wipe.

If I were you, I'd consider making the jump and getting some Optimum Spray Wax. It's easy to use and a very little bit goes a long way. The company is in TN and they ship free(IIRC) for orders over $25.

In that case, why not choose a very easy-to-use sealant (with MUCH better results and longevity) such as 1Z Glanz, Zaino Z-2, PB's EX-P etc. Though they'll cost extra money, the far-better results (and cost/performance) will win you over.

I know you've specified an "otc" spray wax, but I'm with Spoiledman on this one. Optimum Spray Wax is a sweet product to use. I also really like the Insta Wax (spray wax) from Chemical Guy's. The Optimum Spray & Insta Wax Spray are my 2 go to spray waxes. I use them as booster waxes. Easy to use, teriffic results!

Optimum Spray wax sounds good. Wish I'd asked this question a month ago. I was in Memphis over the 4th of July.

Thanks for the replies.

Well, it's not my car. I just drive it occasionally. Although I can get it cleaned, it has no wax on it and that drives me crazy.

I use Klasse and S100 on the 530i.

Having used both NXT and Optimum, I can tell you that there is no comparison. Optimum is far better. If you need an OTC, I think Mothers makes one that you could try out as well. All the new Mothers products seem to be pretty darn good. If you're on the fence about Optimum, give it a try....I bet you will like it.

Insert broken record comment here...

Another vote for the OCW. It can easily last 3 months or more depending on your environement and it is as easy as a detail spray to apply and remove.

AIO - Acrylic Cleaner

Polish - Abrasive polish that varies with pad type, very versatile, long spreading, easy to use, and makes a sweet surface.

Two different product types, I'd take the polish easily for the compatibility.

With respect to spray waxes, has anyone tried 4* "4-90 Spray Wax Plus" from their Pro Series?

I like OCW, but use it solely on door jambs. It really keeps the area clean.

OCW for me as well. No comment on durability though as I've never gone a week before a bit more on. I basically put on a fresh coat after my weekly wash. As easy to work with as a QD.

Appearance is a bit bright so it's no Souveran but on my silver TL, it's just right.

Anthony, thanks for "SPAMMING";) the other board with this stuff and bringing it to the forefront so that we could ALL enjoy another easy to use product that provides excellent results.
