any info on this?? polisher

The ad says "comparable to DeWalt" so I'd say it's just a rotary knock off. Who knows about quality. Ebay is a total crapshoot for just about everything sold on there IMO.

so is that hitachi a pretty good polisher comparable to the dewalt and makita?

I am looking online and finding other places selling for 300+...maybe this is a refurb? I think that I might just get one of those now...

I got mine from there and it was new. I still have a B&D rotary that I've had for 10 years that has never skipped a beat. It's much heavier than the Hitachi but I'd put the Hitachi in the very same league.

Yes, the hitachi si comparable to the dewalt and makita. If you're seeing it for 300+, it's probably coming with a kit of other stuff. Autogeek has the polisher on sale for $150 from a normal of $180, and they are new, not refurb.

Yep.

Personaly i would go with the dewalt. Its heavier than any other rotary out there which some see as a set back but i see as top notch quality. When i'm going to buy any power tool, the weight is one thing i look at.

I've used just about every rotary out there from your cheapo harbor frieght models to the dewalts and makitas. i'm happy with my dewalt, i'll never use anything else now.

Nice :)

I guess the Hitachi compares...

I was cross-shopping the Makita, DeWalt, and Milwaukee when I bought mine...

I still have a Makita from about 20-25 years ago, and it works flawlessly, so I trust Makita's quality above anyone else. Personal experience beats something you read on the internet :)

How much is the Hitachi?

I've used the Dewalt 849, Makita and Hitachi. I say the Hitachi is at least on par with the Makita for less money. It can be had for about $130 shipped.

That looks like one that Harbor Freight used to sell, but in a different color, for about $49 (often on sale for $29). I have one of those (Harbor Freight) and it works fine, but if I did a lot of rotary work I would consider the Hitachi if price was a factor. The link that SpoiledMan provided on eBay for $129 shipped might be hard to beat.

i've also heard that about the makita quality as well.... :up

The cheap rotaries are cheap for a reson, usually weak motors. That makes it frustrating to work with as it won't hold rpm when you apply pressure. Save your pennies for a good tool.
