About Klasse and car washing

Hello, another query from me.Read a few thread about car washing before layering KSG.Can i wash only with water before applying KSG or if i were to use Car shampoo(Meguire`s Classic Gold for that matter) will it prevent KSG from bonding to the surface.Already did 2 layers of KSG on my Champagne colored car and notice no different at all. What did i do wrong?:nixweiss :nixweiss

No you can wash your car with soap just like you would any other time. It should not interfere with the bonding.

The majority of the car's appearance quality comes from the polishing and paint-cleaning stages. The difference after applying a sealant or wax is not going to make a huge difference. LSPs only add a little bit to the look, like added wetness, flake enhancement, or deepening of the color.

I agree with White95Max. Most car wash shampoos aren't harsh enough to remove wax or sealants. I don't recommend using dishwashing detergent, though, due to the fact it will break down your wax/sealant. (unless you want to strip your wax/sealant)

Already clay bar and used Scratch X the first time to remove minor scratches and swirl mark.AIO twice and KSG the second time after allowing it to bond for a week and it seems not much of a different at all. Will do a third layer this weekend and top it up with PS21 to see if there`s any different at all.

You're not alone, Superblackbird. I can't notice any visual differences between the first application of AIO, and the subsequent two applications of SG on my millennium silver Lexus.

I used Klasse last fall. When I was done, I liked the appreance somewhat, but the durability was what I was happy with most.

It was a lot of work using KSG for the results on my Steel Grey car.

Because of all the time involved with SG, I am now debating what I will use this spring. I am thinking AIO + NXT + S100 or Soverean, all after wash, clay and polish with PC.

I am looking for the metallic to pop, and I just did not get that with the SG, however it was very glossy and lasted a very long time in our harsh winter.

I don't get the results I look for until 3+ coats of SG. I have 6 coats of it and eventually topped with NXT (3x). Souveran on top of the twins or AIO only is an outstanding combo.

Not to highjack the thread.

Beastie - After SGx3 Did the NXT alter the appreance or durabitlity of the SG? Was this an experiment or your normal routine? Also how long of a time period for all these layers?

Thanks,

I had 6 coats of SG. I was terribly disappointed with the 1st coat of NXT paste wax. I didn't want to trade the awesome look of SG for a "Turtle Wax" look. I QD'd after application and it was better. It further improved with the passing of time, curing the NXT I think. 2nd wasn't all that but was an improvement. It was applied a couple of weeks after the 1st. The 3rd coat was a lot better. It was applied 2 weeks after the 2nd. Overall, it's pretty close to K twins/ Souveran but still not as good.

This was an experiment that succeeded. The SG is not compromised. Bad thing with NXT is it is not slick at all, even less so than SG. NXT reduced the gloss of SG initially.

Thanks,

In true autopian fashion, I ran home during lunch, washed, PC'd with white and SSR1 then masked a line down the middle of my trunk.

I put AIO on both sides, then SG on one side and S100 on the other.

Then had my girlfried tell me which side looked better. After rolling her eyes and giving me that look, she said the s100 side, and I would agree. Darker richer and more metallic pop. The SG was a very close second. I am very temped to do SGx3 again, then topping with Souveran, but I know AIO +Souveran might be better.

Guess i`m not alone then regarding with KSG.Did the 3rd layer of KSG today and planning to top it up with P21s to see if there`s any difference.
