Detailed my mom's 93 929 today and it didn't turn out as well as I would've hoped. Although she was thrilled. The finish has been neglected. Don't have time to take care of it like I used to, since I have a family of my own and all the associated responsibilities of homeownership..........
The leather is a light tan and is really dirty. It's going to need another going over. I used some diluted degreaser followed up by Lexol Conditioner. Think I'll use a brush next time, with the Lexol Cleaner.
The Color is Black Forrest. It's black, but emerald green when the sun hits it. It has the usual swirls, bird dropping stains, etc....
Temp was in mid 80's and humid today. I used Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner with a cutting pad at about 3-4 on my PC, then used #9 at about the same setting with a white polishing pad, then topped with NXT (thought about the #26, but with the way it was clouding, decided on NXT) using a grey pad. The color looked cloudy/streaky between applications. Really had to buff hard with a MF to make it go away. Used FI to help eliminate the clouds. There is a bird dropping stain on the hood that would not go away. The swirl marks are not totally gone either. I felt like I wasted 4 hours. My mom thought it looked great and thought it looked like new, but I'm not happy.
Should I try again with something more aggressive? Like DACP? Should I step up to a rotary? I know the car is 11 years old and I shouldn't expect miracles, but can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks for any help,
John
