45 year old carpet cleaning + Engine detail

MirrorDetailing

Owner had me come down today to do a engine detail on his daily Marauder and to try and save the interior of his new '66 Falcon Wagon. Interior on the wagon was pretty bad, did not look like the previous owner or owners ever cared about cleaning the interior. Had tons of stains throughout so I tried my best to clean them up and get the seats clean. But after 45 years of grime in the interior..it was pretty bad.

He also had me do a detail on the egine of his daily marauder as he was embarassed on how dirty it was.

Process:

McCulloch Steamer

Megs APC+ 4:1

Brushes

Terrry Towels

Hyper Dressing 1:1

After I cleaned one side, figured I would get a shot. Left side not done, right side cleaned.

After finishing and dressing the engine bay.

Now onto the '66 Wagon. Interior was pretty dirty from 45 years of traffic and stuff.

Megs APC+ 34:1

CG Green Clean 4:1

Brush

Now after everything was done...here is what the water in the catch tank looked like.

The first word that comes to mind after seeing this is BRAVO!!! But I don't think that does it justice. The best I can come up is:  :xyxthumbs :goodjob  :bow

It's one thing to see an engine and interior detail on a car a few years old, even a ten, twenty year old one but it's another thing entirely to see one on a 45 years old one that's NEVER been detailed. I know I've never seen the actual process on a car that old. Thanks a lot for sharing! You've been able to keep it original and to me, that's always better than restoring with new parts whenever possible.

What did the owner say?? Was he :jaw: :faint: :woohoo: ??

Mike did great work today.

The Marauder sees the mean streets of Atlanta every day, but Mike did a great job of taking care of the misery my daily drive leaves behind.

As far as the wagon goes, it was a filthy mess when I got it. Jeff and I scuffed the exterior down to get it ready for the pinstriping which should go on in the next week or so.

Mike did a fantastic job of cleaning up the interior. My plan is to make this a daily driver and I couldn't get in that thing without worrying about getting my suit trashed!!!!

The plan for the wagon is to get a modern FI drive train (from a Fox body or maybe an LS1) and then add AC a sound system and ride the hell out of it without worrying about door dings while I am in the ATL.

Thanks again for doing the great work Mike!!!!

That is probably the last guy who dinged the owners door.

Nice work on an antique ride. Got any pics of the whole car?

The for sale picture he took at the house where he bought it. I will have some better pictures of it the next time I am over there. Will also get pictures of the rest of his 15 classic car collection.

Cool, thanks, I like old cars. They had style back then. That car has potenetial. It looks like it is all original. I remember riding in old wagons like that when I was a kid. It brings back memories.

Nice work! For a car left in dingy condition for that long, it's about as good as its going to get without a restoration.

Great job on the engine! What was your method for using the McCulloch steamer? Is it faster than just APC and brushes?
