Thanks Ben! Not interested in that white pad. So basically with the Orange, Green and Red Pads I'll be able to remove defects within reason and be able to finish without the need for all the inbetween pads ie white, blue, grey/black offered by others??Ben@Autopia said:At 3D, we strive to make Detailing Simple. Having 1/2 a dozens pads over complicates when you can do the same job with 3.
We do carry a white pad which is ultra aggressive. It is marketed to body shops who need to use wool when they cant. This stuff will practically abrase skin and it tears through clear. :buffing:
It not for the weak of heart and I dont recommend bathing with it. :bathbaby:
:tongue2:
My concern was more on the aggressive end of the scale. I'm going to use Buff and Shine pads--I believe their Orange and Green are the same as 3D pads (without the black layer), but they also have a White European Foam Heavy Polishing pad. I'm wondering in the interest of using the "least aggressive combo first" if I should get these for use with UNO on my VW which only has very light scratching that runs longitudinal on the car--or will the Orange be all I need for the correction step?tdekany said:Grey, black, blue, red - pretty much the same. You are making it too complicated. If you want something else, pick up the black wool pads from 3D.
This is exactly what I'm getting at--as I understand it the B&S White pad (euro foam) is less aggressive than the Orange(euro foam) and more aggressive than the Green(poly foam)--so was trying to decide if I should get some White pads to have a less aggressive alternative to the Orange pad for use on VW clear??? Perhaps I'm over complicating this, but I'm new to machine polishing.Ben@Autopia said:With Uno, you should always do a test spot with a softer pad and move more aggressive as needed. Might be surprised how much it cuts. For just minor correction, the orange from buff n shine should be more than enough for most paints.

Ben--thanks very much for the clear answer--being new to machine polishing it is difficult to cut through all the hype and marketing--so I'll stick with Orange, Green and Red. BTW--Javier is a real asset to 3D--I had a slight problem with one of my shipments and he corrected it in a snap--the kind of customer service that keeps poeple coming back for more.Ben@Autopia said:The cut between the orange and white euro foam is slight imo. Go with one or the other.
If just picking one, I would go with orange. Would hate to be polishing with a white and wishing for a little more cut. Alternatively, if you are polishing with the orange and want less cut, do less passes.
