2001 Honda Prelude

I just did a quick wash and applied #26 to the paint. Two weeks ago I did a full detail of the car, clay using mothers, scratch X by hand using LC yellow pad, #7 with a white pad, and #26 with finishing pad. I also used Novus #2 and #1 on the headlights.

For the trim and tires, I used 303. Wheel wells, s100 total corrosion protectant.

I applied 303 using EO tire swipe. I don't buff afterwards, I just let the product dry on its own.

Unfortunately, the finish is not in perfect shape. As you can see in the following picture, the bumper is slightly pink indicating obviously oxidation. The best I used to tackle this problem is Scratch X by hand. But I'm afraid if I have any chance to salvage I must get the defect out by machine with a stronger product. Otherwise, I'll just live with it.

Hmmm. I guess my car looks ugly b/c I don't see any responses!

Nah, it just takes a while on the weekends. I usually dont spend a lot of time on the forums on the weekends. Car looks awesome. What did you use on it when you did the full detail?

The car looks really good, it's just hard to fully appreciate because the pics are a bit blurry. The reflections still look amazing though.

Looking good! Just becareful when polishing the bumpers via machine. The paint was very thin on a honda that I did recently, so be advised. Otherwise, looking good! :up

Thanks. I agree about the machine polishing. It's a good thing I had purchased the Pad and Handle kit from Danase. At least I can try to work out the defects by hand without using a machine. I'll still be buying a PC for everything else.

Still the sexiest Prelude body style ever produced. The headlight design on those is just awesome to me. Anyway, take some polish and a PC to that thing and shine her up. It's worth the money.

Great work on the car it looks amazing....

I must say I love the 5th gen prelude, it is the perfect explaination of honda's simple elegance design approach. I mean yes, there are flashier cars out there, but a simple test is look at a 10 year old accord or prelude, their design still looks fresh.

Thanks for the compliments! I just received my order of #16 and I'm thinking about applying a coat this weekend over the #26 I applied last weekend. I'll be taking good care of this puppy. :)

Mmm, I'm a big fan of red. Unfortunately, it's the worst color for oxidation. Just means you have to spend more time, which is a good thing in my books.

Since you seem to like Meguiars, try a few applications of ColorX on the bumper. It's got pretty effective cleaners to take care of the oxidation.

#26 is pretty underrated on red as well imo. Lacks a little clarity in your pics (out of focus?), but better prep will help a lot. Looks really deep which is great.

I snapped those pictures pretty quickly, so that's why some came out kinda blurry. I have a Nikion Coolpix 4600 4.1 MP camera. It's a simple point and shoot, but I can't adjust certain settings like the ISO so it's limited in that capacity. Plus the lighting was not that great outside. I'll try to get better pics when I apply #16.

With reference to the bumper, I tried scratchX but to no avail. My next plan of attack in the coming months is to get a PC and use Poorboy's SSR 2.5 and 1 on the finish. I also have to touchup/wetsand a few nicks and scratches.

Right now, I'm just maintaining protection with loads of carnauba until I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get back to work. :)

My thoughts as well. I will say that #26 is a great wax on solid red paint, really rich and deep!

Looks nice and wet.

I think you will be impressed how well this product works and how extra wet it will make the paint.
