1962 Mercedes Benz 190SL Roadster *Worse Body Shop Work EVER*

I have to say up front...this car made it too my lottery list. This car was simply amazing. I do not know what it was about it...but it was just outright cool as hell. Generally I hate red interiors...but Jeff at Buds did a awesome job with this. I would take it with a red interior for my lottery list.

So yeah...another one for Buds Benz, dropped off to get the general work done..but after washing and claying the vehicle and getting it prepped for correction...I noticed that the vehicle was covered in sanding and prep marks from when it was painted out in Texas. It blew my mind the amount of sanding and prep marks that were let go on this car...as they probably covered 70% of the vehicle.

Unfortunately Buds did not want to put a lot into this vehicle and would leave it up too the owner for further correction. So with that I was able to get as much correction as I possibly could in the package aloud. Still able to achieve a good correction, 85%, and make a big difference in the before and after up the vehicle.

Process:

ONR Wash

Clayed w/ DI Medium Clay via ONR Lube

Buffed:

Surbuf via GG DA w/ M105

PO85RD via DW849 w/ Uber Green

LSP:

Blackfire Wet Diamond

Windows w/ Meguiars Window Concentrate

Huds and Trim w/ Optimum Metal Polish

So the befores...as it was dropped off...

My test area...just too show the difference in the paint after... This was done with ...

PFW via DW849 w/ M105

Surbuff via GG DA w/ M105

Uber Green via DW849 w/ PO85RD

Took a good amount of passes with the PFW to really knock down the sanding marks...but Buds was not wanting to take a good bit of extra time to get it done...so I got what I could with just Surbuf.

This was just an awesome car!

oh my..... that is a pretty benz. afters are damn impressive!

If I ever hit it big in the lottery, I'll buy you one. :)

You said it awesome car! I kinda dig the red interior, to bad the worst sanding marks possible on such a cool car. Great turn around and nice work.-Jamie

Nice work. Should have got one of these back in the '80's when they were relatively cheap (like less than my '66 mustang cheap). Still a lot less than a 300SL but they've really shot up.

Fantastic work Mike! That is such an incredible car, it has all sorts of style and character. And the white on red combo has always been one of my favorites!

No kidding. Its amazing the cars that you could buy 20 years ago and turn a huge profit on today. Looking this one up, they are going for around $70-80,000.

That looks simply gorgeous, Mike! The SL has always been the most stylish Benz, and that one's lines are classic.

Thanks Charlie. I agree...the lines on this thing are awesome.

Amazing job bringing the paint to where it should have been all along!

Thanks Scott. Not fully where its at...but a world of difference better than what it was.

Thanks Mike. I am generally not one for red interior in anything...but this one...I cannot see it without white exterior and red interior.
