    Hiring competent workers!

Hello! I am looking to hire someone new to do most of the work in my Glass / Detailing business. I just got a resume from someone that claims to have detailing experience, and I`m probably going to bring him in for an interview. What questions would you ask a prospect employee? Thanks for...

What did you do detailing wise today?

Got halfway done polishing a new Chrysler 200 Convertible which looks like it's been sanded... unbelievably bad paint for only 24k km. Pretty hard clearcoat too! Had a customer come by at 2:30 this afternoon asking if I can do a full detail on his 2014 Q5... I said sure, when do you want to...

    Triumph TR6 polished... Beautiful

Loved polishing this car, I don't remember the last time I polished a car without metallic paint! Steps were nothing fancy, PC7424 with 4" cutting pads and an all in one polish with carnuba. Pics! In the shop: In the sun: Thanks for looking!

    5" or 6" Polisher?

Rupes LHR15SE or LHR21SE? Hello! I am going to be ordering the new Rupes Bigfoot polisher next week, and I am torn on which one to order... I do a lot (5+ per week) of car lot details, which involve merely a 1-step polish/wax in one... I also do a few more involved polishing jobs per week...

What would your ultimate polisher arsenal be?

Good day fellow detailers! I started my autoglass/detailing business in November with a partner, and the detailing was a bit of the wild-card.. we didn't know how busy it would be, how many we could do per week, etc.. It's started getting pretty busy, for instance we have 3 to do Monday, one...

Bought a Tornador... blew me away with speed & ease of interior detailing

I don't know how I detailed without this thing... It's called the Tornador. Made by Car Tool, but I'm sure there are others. Basically speeds my interior cleaning by 75%, while improving overall cleaning from ~75% to 95%+.. Photos taken from iPhone with two 500w Lamps behind me: TO...

Starting a detailing & autoglass business

I operated my own Detailing business years ago, from 2004 until 2007.  I was doing very well and building a client base, until I ended up moving ~300km away and sold my detailing truck and some of my equipment...   Fast forward to this year, and I am now in the serious planning and...

Is there such thing as as 4" rotary polisher?

I know I can get 4" pads, since I have them for my PorterCable polisher... I have been doing quite a bit of wetsanding & polishing on custom airbrushed motorcycle parts, and I am realizing that the largest hurdle for me polishing out the 2500 grit wetsanding has been my 6.5" pad on the...

Detailing rig half-and-half detailed... ever seen it?

Hey Everyone, I m sure we've all thought about this at one point or another, but has anyone actually SEEN or driven a half-and-half display? Got myself a beat-up '92 Astrovan for a temporary rig, and its actually in great shape for its mileage... but has been a company work-truck for the...

    "Exotic Detail"

What do you guys think? Been running with the same business name for the past 10 years now, Stumpy's Mobile Detailing, and I think I've grown out of the "Stumpy's" nickname... I think I'd rather be talked about like "Hey take your car over to Exotic, he does great work" instead of "Stumpy...

Jeep oh Jeep you peice of Jeep why do I love you so

So, you know, I need a vehicle for a fairly purposeful reason, a reason that has reason, has explanation, has budget, and has purpose. Did I mention any of those already? Oh well. You see, this reason was to haul tools, equipment, you know, things that can make you money. Things that I...

    M105 vs Menz IP?

Just wondering, I've never used M105 before but I LOVE Menzerna's IP for correction with the 4" PC pads on speed 6.. Finishes down almost perfectly with very good defect removal... Opinions?
