    Backing Plate and Pad Sizes

I too am having trouble finding 4" pads (for my Cyclos). The seemingly identical ones from Rupes haven't been restocked anywhere, and those were my previous alternatives. Lots of Cyclo Model5s for sale, but the only pads to go with them are the Orange and Yellow ones (no thanks) or ones from...

black matte/satin wheels stained white - etched?

Unfortunately, I suspect that Sizzle Chest got it right and they will need professionally refinished. If they were mine, that's what I'd be looking into.

Can this etching be cut down/improved?

Two additional thoughts follow: -Polishing with foam/wool might not be the best idea as those can "follow the topography of the paint", including the "low areas" where it's etched. That would result in paint being taken off without doing much for the etched spots. It would diminish the other...

Can this etching be cut down/improved?

I dealt with SS paint for ages before B/C became common, and most of my '85 jag is still OE SS (IOW, I know a bit about long term care of SS paint). While I'd rather have thick-but-imperfect OE paint, the pix show some rather significant marring (and not just the etching), so since it's SS I...

    PANEL WIPES

Bull7191- If using 845 by itself gives the result you're after, that's the way to go! No point in doing something that's not necessary. There's sure nothing wrong with 845, it's like a more durable version of P21S or a user- and trim-friendly version of M16.

    PANEL WIPES

I'm always surprised when somebody says that using something short-lived underneath the LSP will compromise the durability of the latter. That simply has not been my experience...not with M07 + M16 (which I used for ages), not with VM (remember that one?) topped with Collinite, not with KAIO...

    PANEL WIPES

"Better than a ceramic coating" to me means "doesn't look like a coating". Same criticism I had with Zaino and KSG. It's a specific look that some must love, and OK, to each their own and I'm glad the users like it. Bull6791- 845 is good enough for me to keep on the shelf, but overall I...

    PANEL WIPES

I did the "only spraywax" with on my wife's A8 for its last few years, and I'm currently using GG Ceramic 3-in-1 spray on the Sonic. That approach is OK, and I don't expect durability from it, but it does *NOT* offer the protection of my beloved FK1000P/BWM1 (or whatever it's now called)...

    PANEL WIPES

I only do the wiping when I need to, and that's almost always to remove Polishing Oils like those [expletive deleted] Meguiar's TSO. And then it's primarily to avoid any concealing of minute flaws (by those oils). I've had pretty awful flaws "come back" with certain polishes (106FF, M205) and...

    Backing Plate Repair

If anybody does find an adhesive that works for reattaching velcro to backing plates, I would like to hear about it. I have a household scrubber with a proprietary backing plate that needs repaired as I can't get a replacement. Just removing the oe adhesive (yes, 3M Adhesive Remover, old...

Confessions of an Old Forum Member by Captain Obvious

Lonnie- Heh heh, AFAIK, your two examples (Malm's, so-so polishes but a very underrated wax IMO and Zaino, whose ZAIO and Z16 I still like) are both still unavailable OTC. Sorry, couldn't resist when I saw that Malm's reference! I got my oldest Cyclo5 through Malm's back in the early '80s :D...
