    Friggin Canada geese

Two days in a row I come out of work to find a goose standing next to my car, pecking the door! *** Haven't washed it yet (it's a little dirty) to see the extent of the damage, but I'm certain there's going to be some marring.

    M105 and M205

I've got some bottles of it that have been exposed to freezing temps for a day or two... still good or toss them?

    Unbelievable.

Yesterday as I was walking out of the office, I noticed three aerial strikes on my hood. On a (admittedly lightly) snowing day. What are the chances?

Best way to remove small dings where there are no obvious creases in sheet metal?

Got a couple of dings in my car from before I picked it up 2nd-hand, and I'd like to get them straightened out. Any way to DIY?

    Orange peel on new paint

To eliminate orange peel you need to sand the paint until it's flat. However, at what stage does the paint need to be sanded? After both the base coat and the clear coat, or just after the clear coat? I'm curious as to whether a flat clear coat layer over a "peely" base would look like it had...

    Duragloss #751, Rain Repel

This stuff is fantastic, at least for one of its two purported uses. The first is for cleaning, and unfortunately this is not the best glass cleaner around. I suppose you could use it for fingerprints and light soils, but not for anything else, especially hard water stains. The second use, which...

My new favorite pad cleaner for the removal of wax and sealants

You may or may not be able to get this cheaply, but I had some industrial ethanol laying around - 99.5%, I think? Anyway, the DG 105 I had on a black foam pad was soo tenacious in my APC wash solution; if you pinched the foam and squeezed outward, you could collect tons of residual sealant...

Residue from polish sling (M105 to be exact)

Do I need to wash/IPA it away, or can I get rid of it just by claying or going over it with more polish?

Cleaning foam pads, a scientific study. Maybe.

I am pleased to announce that two of Zep's products (Commercial line), the Heavy-Duty Citrus Degreaser and the All-Purpose Cleaner & Degreaser did a good job removing mild residue from my foam pads (residue from DG 105 and 601, to be precise). I am sure that they would do an even better job if...

    LED flashlight for swirl detection?

Anybody use one? I'm sure there are flashlights out there that are powerful enough... does anybody have one or should I do a little spending myself?

Using gasoline to clean foam pads

Waxes are generally soluble in non-polar compounds. Gasoline is non-polar. Anybody use gasoline to clean their pads? Does it work, and how does the foam hold up?

Sorta screwed the pooch on my headlights

I picked up some 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper with some PlastX to polish up my headlights. My headlights have lots of tiny dings from rock chips and I wasn't getting anywhere fast with 1000 grit, so I decided to use some 400 I had laying around. Worked fast enough... but it...

Removing mild orange peel via wetsanding

Is there any way to judge whether a finish can be safely wetsanded to flatness (i.e. without compromising the clear) without using a paint thickness gauge?

    Cracked spot in clear coat

How to deal with this? I have a Dr. Color Chip kit, so should I try to fill it before compounding it or should I try to compound it before filling? It looks almost as if the clear coat is compromised all the way down to base...
