question about chrome but isn`t really chrome

My ol` truck had chrome bumpers front and back with real chrome accents back when it was pretty and not a work truck.

I now have cars that have plastic with chrome on them, chrome clad wheels, etc. Would you still use a chrome polish, metal polish, plastic polish, normal paint polish, etc?

Chrome can be used to plate both plastic and metal. However, most chrome plated plastic is actually not chrome plated, it just appears that way. A cheap imitation, which looks a lot like chrome, can be used.

Just to be safe, maintain with a solvent-free wax or sealant
