    Hand or Oribtal Polisher

I`m fairly new to this forum and would like to know if u get same results as oribtal polisher as u would by hand. I know some products only suggest using by hand but would this produce the same results?

A hand can`t move at 1500 rpm...get an orbital...but more important find the beginner section here and start reading....

A year ago I didn`t know anything about detailing . I went on here and watched all of videos and read all the how-to articles ...I read a few forums and it was clear as to how to do this. You really need to learn this. You can`t just keep asking questions here, because you never really get a complete answer  how it works and what surfaces need what product. So just bone up like I did and you`ll get it very quickly.

once you get up to speed and have a specific question about a specific technique or product post them here..

Excellent advice! On how to and orbital buffers. There is really no comparison between hand and machine applications.

The difference would be like hand washing your clothes in the sink vs using the washing machine. In short there is no comparison.

if you don`t have a da/orbital polisher, of course do it by hand, but the results will never come close to what machine finishing can do. your hands just can`t move that fast and maintain an even, flat, downward pressure for that glass like finish. if you`re serious about detailing, a good da/orbital polisher is a must and you`ll never regret getting one once you see the results.

    Re: Hand or Oribtal Polisher

When you say orbital polisher are you referring to the cheap (underpowered) "Wax Master" style polisher or a quality DA Orbital Polisher like a Porter Cable 7424 XP.

You can actually do some pretty serious paint polishing by hand (more so then a cheaper Wax Master) because you can focus your effort in one spot. However it will take a VERY VERY long time with a A TON of effort to get results.

Comparing hand polishing to a high-quality Orbital DA Polisher like a Porter Cable is a really apples-to-oranges. The speed, power, and ease-of-use are all in favor of the machine.

Hand polishing can cause other issues like finger pressure problems.

Requires skill and time. Only thing I like by hand is waxing, especially with boutique waxes.

Bah, you people just don`t know how to hand-wash clothes (Over here, the majority of households wash clothing by hand rather than by machine, given that labor is pretty inexpensive and appliances and electricity aren`t - and yes, you can get better results with a hand wash than a machine wash .)
