2nd Full Detail with Ultima!

Ok, as promised - I hit the trusty old Passat with the Ultima today.

This is a 3 year old car, stays outside 24x7, has previously been polished using swirlbuster polish and pad from Autopia, and finished with Klasse AIO.

This car had had a few weeks of sprinkler spray down one side, and the AIO had definitely warn off!

So usual wash & dry, then a full clay using Meguires pro clay and speed detailer as lube.

After the clay, the process was the same as for the Boxster last week.

Piant prep + a Panel at a time - wipe off the polish before it dries on the car (learned from the Boxster)

Did the whole car with the polish, then applied the trim sealant on the black, and the paint sealant on the paintwork.

Again, easy to apply, no real streaking issues - just a thin thin coat as before.

Gave it a slight buff after 1 Hr, and then just left to cure.

Results:

I'm sold - paint looks great - smooth and deep gloss.

Trim went nice and black - we'll see how it lasts outside!

Looks good. Why did you give it a slight buff after an hour? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the whole wipe on walk away concept?

What kind of tent/canopy is that? I need something like that. Is it easy to break down and store? Also, where did you get it?

After 1 hour, any slight streaking can be removed with a light buff - not much to do, but it allows you to even out any streaks caused by applying too much sealant.

Canopy is an EZ UP by ShadeTech, size 10' x 10'

It's easy to put up and take down, and stores in a small space - perfect for detailing.

I got mine from PepBoys for around $80.

Buy the weights for the feet to keep the thing on the ground, and buy the optional plastic walls to keep low sun off the car.

Just south of OC - between OC and San Diego

FYI, even if you do apply too much, if you allow it to cure overnight, it will be clear in the AM. I have tried this in a number of situations and all streaking went away on its own once 100% dry.
