s100 = bad??

I decided today after all of the good press S100 has been getting here that I'd try some this weekend on the racecar...

I went to 1 harley dealership, 1harley autorized specialty chopper shop, and one BMW bike shop. All 3 carried a multitude of S100 brand products, but when I asked for the paste wax, I was treated like a child molester caught in an all boys elementary school...

The harley guy told me he doesnt carry it because people don't know how to use it, and it causes more problems than it's worth, but wouldnt elaborate, the chopper guy said it was a terrible wax, and he wouldn't sell it to his customers, and the BMW guy had never heard a demand for it, so never got any, but offered to order me some..

Why the bad reaction???

Where can I get S100 in the Philly, south Jersey area? I want to use it this weekend????

Ha! That's pretty funny. I got my S100 at a local custom shop and the guy who owns it has been building custom bikes for 25 years. He said it's the only wax he uses on his bikes.

I don't know what "problems" it could create really.

How dumb do you have to be to not know how to use a wax??? Even a biker has to have more smarts than that. ;) (I can say that because I have friends who are bikers) That just sounds like opinions from people who know nothing about detailing. That's ok though. Ask me which part is better for this application or that application on a bike and I'd probably give you a stupid answer too. Leave the mechanic questions to mechanics and the detailing questions to detailiers. Let mechanics opinions of waxes roll off and take their advice on maintaining your bike. Asking a dealer or mechanic what they know about wax is like asking McDonalds what they know about meat. LOL

I can see a problem if people ignore the directions and apply the wax thickly, then wait an hour for it to "cure". Personally, I feel it's one of the easiest waxes to work with when used properly.

"Asking a dealer or mechanic what they know about wax is like asking McDonalds what they know about meat." ROTFLMAO!!!

Jngrbrdman you sure have a way with words!

I really does sound to me like these guys were trying to sell you whatever they had on the shelf.

They didn't really have anything else, and none of them offered a replacement. The one guy had some mother stuff, and it was obvious I wasn't interested in that.

I believe you guys more anyway, it was just crazy that I got this reaction from people...

I need a new wax for this weekend...

What should I get, and where??

I'd even pay for PS21 if I could find it locally...

Ok, so I can't get S100 today.. what carbuna paste should I pick up? I have all of the usual stor bought things to choose from..

car is black, and i'll be doing some major swirl repair...

If all else fails, try the Megs #26. Its a pretty good wax and can be found usually at a local O'Rileys or Autozone. Anyone else wanna weigh in? :nixweiss

#26 would be my second choice if I had to buy a wax locally. Smoker and I saw it in our local paint shop for $10 for a gallon. I don't know if that is the deal across the board or if this shop was just trying to get rid of some stock. Still, that is an awesome deal for some awesome wax.

blackntan,

Have you ever seen that show on Discovery Channel called "Orange County Choppers" sounds like you ran into the owner (dad) of that company.

s100 is the easiest product, how can you possibly mess it up?

Is there any other Harley stores in your area?

TJ

I love that show!!!

hahaha.. Yeah, this shop was kinda like that except a showroom instead of a workshop...

those bikes are amazing, aren't they??? I'd love to have one eventually...

Yeah, the guy was an idiot. The other guy in the shop gave me the address to the 2nd shop I went too.. I do know of another one, it's a bit far away though, I may just have to make the run anyway...

you can get your jar of s100 at camden county H.D. on the black horse pike in west collingswood nj. just picked myself up some there yesterday.(and buy the way when i went to pay for it the guy behind the counter said "alright good stuff")

The stuff is great!Should try some out and you'll see why we all like it so much.It is the easiest wax I've ever used and the only thing easier would be letting someone do it for you....but it is too easy and you can take credit for doing such a good job detailing your car.

S100 is one of my favorite waxes!! It goes on easily and wipes off just as easy!

Some people run down a product simply because they do not have it in stock and wants to sell you something else they do have. Moreover, it is also a way of getting out of ordering a product as well.

Blacktan-

S100 is the easiest paste wax to apply and remove. There isn't much caking up of the paste if applied not too heavy and you don't leave it on too ling. One small section at a time. Use a 100% cotton towel to remove some off the wax and then use a microfiber towel to finish.

Don't know how far south you are, but if you really want this stuff

try the Harley dealer in Long Branch, NJ.

Check out the Harley site for locations and call them up.
