Help With Detailing

Hi.

I've zaino'd my car (three coats of z5). I was wondering if I could/should put a carnuba wax on top? I was thinking either s100, p21s or pinnacle souvern. Also, is there anything to remove swirl marks / very faint scratches? The damn dealer where I bought my car from washed it before deliver. Thank you Acura for swirl marks.... :angry

Anyways, I'd really appreciate your input for my situation.

Thanks!

you can try adding a few more coats of Z5 on to see if it "hides" the marks a little better. Otherwise, you have to remove the swirls/scratches prior to Zaino next time around.

A lot of people are topping Z with S100/P21s. Haven't seen as many doing it with soveran (I guess the price).

Which Acura ?

I have an indigo blue pearl TSX. I'll hopefully get to take pics of it this weekend.

Which is better out of P21S and S100? I was told they are pretty much the same.

Also, how should I be applying the carnuba paste wax?

Ah I see you're a victim of the "Swirl Mark and Scratch Application Department" as I did too with my new '03 Absolutly Red (and swirled) Lexus SC430.

My advise, take your time one weekend and remove the swirls. Since it's new, and hopefully not that pad, some 3M PIII-MG and Menzerna FP should do the trick. You can see from my pics, they are mostly gone, but honestly I need more time. I have several coats of ZFX/Z5 (NEW Z5) and several coats of ZFX/Z2 (Also NEW) on it.

I do have Souveran, and yes it makes it look a bit different, but I like the Zaino on it's own. Besides, I do not want to keep stripping wax so I can add Zaino. Not that there is really anything wrong with topping it, just not for me I guess, but if someone want to compare my current rear pics of the SC430 of just Zaino and one with Soveran, I'll do it.

You could go with an SMR, which works very well, but it just hides and once you wash with Dawn and Z7 prior to Zaino, some swirls will come back as the filler gets removed as well as oils from polishes.

Zaino prep is more labor intensive (oil strip) as opposed to just polish and wax. But the results show for themselves.

Good luck, and enjoy the new car! You're on the right track.

Regards,

Deanski
