red F430 Spider vs Clearkote

Hi guys

Just got done giving dad's 430 some Clearkote lovin' (RMG + CMW)

Ive been wanting to try these products for a while now having seen how good they look on members' cars here, so when i ordered some Einszett gear off Pakshak i thought id add them to my basket

The 430 was previously wearing straight Swissol Concorso (see sig for pics). This was my first Clearkote application, and def wont be my last, so any extra tips you guys have please feel free to share. Here is how i did it -

I first applied the RMG by hand using a round MF applicator in circular motions. I didnt work the product in too much since there arent any visible swirls in the paint. I found i had to use a bit more product them i used to to get even coverage and have it spread smoothly. I went one panel at a time and buffed off immediately. Buffing off was easy enough, though i found it clogged the MF clothes quite quickly

Next up i applied CMW using the same applicator in straight motions. I was suprised the product came out of the bottle like toothpaste, but it did seem to apply over the paint easier than RMG. I did one panel at a time and wipe off immediately. Does it need to dry to a haze? Can i layer the CMW or does it have cleaners? Im curious how much wetter i can get the paint

Also, im a bit confused with the RMG and VM. Where would the VM have fit in to this detail?

I couldnt believe the wetness and gloss, even the slickness was very good, especially for the price. Im eager to see now how well this look lasts after a few washes. Im hoping it doesnt last so i feel better about spending so much on my Swissol Concorso

IMO the wetness is a step above the Concorso, clarity and reflections have diminished slightly and slickness feels about the same. Im going to Clearkote my Lemans blue M3 next weekend

Re: red F430 Spider vs Clearkote

Hello!!

Pics look great. IMHO work RMG in to the paint, its glazing oils so you want to get them in the paint rather then just smearing it over the paint and leaving a haze.

VM and RMG fit in to your process like this: Put VM and RMG in equal amounts in an empty clean bottle and shake!! YOu can apply them as a one step.

VM gives a deeper look to dark solid paints, VM is great at NOT muting metalic pop and making paints looking wet. Its my metalic to go product!!

VM also has some cleaning and swirl mark hiding abilities.

You can layer CMW, if you couldent it would wipe off all your prep work!! Some people might argue that as its a liquid wax it maybe contain solvents or something similar but i have always applied every two weeks on a my old dark sold blue BMW and it looked like improvements all the way up to the 4 application!! It certantly isnt a cleaner wax.

Hope that Helps

Geoff

Re: red F430 Spider vs Clearkote

perfect geoff, just the info i needed

so you think if i bought the VM and mixed it in with the RM i would see a notable improvement? Is it worth me buying it even if i wont be using any of its swirl hiding/removing ability - given my cars are always kept swirl free

having to buy from o/s (pakshak) means with shipping cost factored in it doesnt really make sense buying only one product at a time

also, should i be using a coarse pad to work the VM/RM into the paint, or will my current MF applicator do?

Re: red F430 Spider vs Clearkote

Definitely some deep, wet red paint!

You'd use VM first if you needed to do any light polishing. You can also mix it 50/50 with RMG for "Pink Moose" which would save you a step. RMG works best for me via PC using a finishing pad and the speed on 5. Usually 3-4 moderate speed passes are enough to make RMG literallydisappear into the paint. Carnauba Moose seems to work equally well whether you apply and remove a panel at a time, or apply it to the whole car then remove.

Re: red F430 Spider vs Clearkote

Hi!!

I would use a foampad, or better yet one Clearkotes own MF applicaters to apply the RMG that way you can gently massage it in to the paintwork with out putting to much down. They do help apply an even coat.

I wouldent go out of my way to order VM on its own, it doesnt sound like you need it. Next time you need to buy some products you might want to consider. Its cleans the paintwork so if you need to remove old wax etc. Then it can help there.

You are in OZ?? Im in the UK but wasnt fooled by right hook as theres just to much bright sunlight for winter here!!

Nice car, enjoy!! I answered your other post with what i hope is the correct info!!

Re: red F430 Spider vs Clearkote

The 430 is nice, as is the Ducati. But I'm digging the tiled garage area too!
