Porsche Twin Turbo Black- ZPC and Z5pro

Thanks to Chris for getting me hooked up with this detail and for your help.

Lee, Thanks for stopping by and doing the interior and engine bay.

A good friend of Chris's had purchased this car a few months ago w/ 7500 miles. The only other owner of the car was Tom Glavin. It now has approx 9500 miles.

Tired a few different polish/pad combo's on the hood.
ZPC white LC pad PC6-not bad at all, looks to be getting 80-85% of the swirls out.
106FF Green P2 pad Rotary 1400-Just was not getting enough of the defects out.
EC/OP mix orange P2 pad PC6-too much micromarring on this soft clear.

So decided to stick with ZPC on white LC pad. Not bad at all for a 1-step polish.

Process:
Z6 wash
Clay
Z6 wash
White LC VC w/ Zaino ZPC PC6
Z6 wipedown
2x Z5pro w/ ZFX
Z8

Interior by Lee!
Vac
Z9 to clean leather, then treated with Z-10.
All other interior trim got Z26 (90% Z10 and 10% Z16)
Glass with old school EI 20/20

Wheels (Chris)
PS21 to clean
Megs polish on outers
Prime on entire wheel surface
Z-16 on tires

Tips (Chris) Megs polish

Engine bay (Lee) and front boot (Chris)
Wipedown with PB Spray and wipe
Z26 as above on everything

Before:

This should give you an idea of whats going on:

Interior before:

After wash and Clay:

After ZPC:

Getting worried about loosing light, so we did 1x of Z5pro followed by Z6:

Lee's impeccable interior work:

Some finals after the 2nd coat of Z5pro and Z8. Getting pretty dark out now:

Very noticable improvement, especially since it looked pretty good in the before shots.

I have to agree on that solid black Porsche paint, it mars so easily yet the swirls are slow to come out. They can make for a very long day.

God-D, awesome work inside and out guys!

The hood shot (16th from the bottom), is just killer.

You guys really improved the look of the car. I can only imagine what it looks like in person.

Heh - they're pretty fun to work on because they look so nice, a shame the paint is sort of finicky.

I find it funny that us detailing guys are the only people that appreciate a hood shot like that. Sometimes I will see a pic like that on Autopia and go "ahhh, that looks NICE" and my wife will be like "what? it's a hood!"

Re: Porsche Twin Turbo Black- ZPC and Z5pro

Nice work on the 996 Turbo!!

I know first hand on how difficult the black Porsche paint is!!

You did a great job on that one!

I've seen those wheels on another "P" car up here and look great!

Nice work on the engine bay!! This is one of the "P" car owners pride, so hats off!!

Regards,
Deanski

Re: Porsche Twin Turbo Black- ZPC and Z5pro

Scott, Thanks for your kind words! Chris was there when the owner picked up the car. It had been glazed over pretty well and did not look too bad. By the time it had 2 careful washes all the "magic" of the glaze or whatever they used was gone.

John, Thanks for your kind words. Now that Kevin and you mention it, I really like the hood shot too. Wish I could of got some of that "stuff" out of the shot.

Kevin, I agree about the paint being finicky, I think even more so then the black IS350 I did last week.

Deanski, Thanks for your kind words. I could only imagine the steps you must take to keep yours looking top-notch on a daily basis. Going to try and get together with the owner in a few weeks for a ride.

Re: Porsche Twin Turbo Black- ZPC and Z5pro

Thanks Bryan. I'm glad the pics turned out so well.

Z-5Pro worked well on the left door in spite of my thick layering technique.

You guys should see Bryan's Zaino technique. He puts on such whisper thin layers I'm taking to calling him "The Zaino Whisperer".
