now i'm happy with my finish

last week i posted how i "ruined" my layers of z2 pro by topping it with Pinnacle Paste Glaze. It "muted" or gave my finish a "mat" look.

Well since then , i tore it all down invested in z8 and am a much happy camper with the way my car looks now. Much deeper and wetter finish.

New Zaino z2 Pro & Z8

Prep:
Wolfgang Autobathe wash
Big Blue to dry
Poorboys SSR1 w/ Porter Cable at speed 6
Clay w/ Poorboys Spray n Wipe to lubricate
Re-rinse, Re-Dry
Klasse AIO x 1

LSP:
z2 pro x 4 with z8 in between

Just when you think Zaino couldn't be improved upon, it has.
Sal has a real winner here. It dries quicker, is easier to apply and slightly easier to remove.(still need a little more elbow grease than other brands) I let drying time in between coats to about 30mins.

I noticed that you really won't get the full effect of the Zaino "bling" without properly prepping your surface first and adding multiple layers.

z2 pro with z8 is significantly "slicker." Not as slick as Wolfgang, but very close.

I found z2 Pro needs to be layered to bring out the real depth and "bling" on lighter coloured cars. I found not one, not two, but 3 coats really bring out the depth.

Overall, I'm really happy again with the condition of my finish. Deep and wet looking with a nice slickness. It takes time for the z8 to work in. It does not give an immediate "slick" feel, give it some time and then be prepared to be shocked.

Pros:
-easier to use
-one of the best lsp's to date in my books
-improved "deep" and wet looking
-z8 detail spray improves slickness
-durability

Cons:
-need to prep surface well to see the real true essence, the true bling. z2 pro by itself does not do it all
-does not do well with a carnuba topper
-z8 detail takes some time to work into your finish to feel the slickness
-really have to layer it super thin like the past z2

Porter Cable Tip:
If applying by dual action polisher, be sure to soak your "black/grey pad" with detail spray. I used Poorboys detail spray instead of z8 and it worked fine in allowing the z2 pro to spread. A couple of dabs on the 12, 3, 6 , 9pm spots , a quick rub in with finger and it spread pretty well at speed 3. Overall its easier to apply by hand.

"Now I'm happy with my finish" That's the main thing right there... Please explain a little more about Z8? Are you saying that after a couple of days it looks better?

Damn that's some loud paint!

Looks awesome though. Like ^ he said, can you explain the place Z8 has in a detailing cabinet? It's another sealant, correct?

Really wet and shiny!

When I used Z2 Pro (w/ZFX), it was cool, cloudy and humid and I wasn't waiting at all to remove. Apply, remove. Made it really easy to use. Of course, it takes a little more time to apply it to an Odyssey than an S2000.

The second layer looked marginally better than the first but the third layer really didn't seem to affect the appearance but the slickness was a touch better. I think most people would be really happy with 3 layers. I certainly can't argue with how good 4 layers looks on your car though!

Good pointers on PC application. I figured pretty much everyone did it by hand.

I found the z8 was no difference than z6 in my initial sprays. Smells difference but nice of course. I wiped it with the soft side of my MF towels. NO immediate kick, but after about 20-30mins.. felt the side of my panels with the back of my hand.. and Wow ! almost WolGang like..

"need to prep surface well to see the real true essence, the true bling.

That's the credo of Zaino. Trueness

I love it! I also think yellow is the best color on the S2000. Any pictures with the whole car?

STOP THAT NOW!

My name is Gonzo and I am a Klasse-aholic..... Used it for a couple of years now and have been blown away by it. PLEASE dont make me look into something new again, especially since I just recently elected to explore the FMJ world.

STOP THAT NOW!

What an awesome job!

BTW, your happiness won't last too long. In a few months, you will get the urge to tinker with it again. I'm never happy with my car for very long, I always find something that bugs me.
